First, big thanks to YA BOUND for letting me participate in this book tour. When I first read the blurb for this book, I read it very quickly, but what I did catch intrigued me enough o want to read this book. Before I started reading this book and then I caught this part of the blurb: “Will's home is forty-four light years away.“ That is a very important part, lol. That made me ever more excited to read this book. The cover to me didn’t match the story well. It is not a bad cover, but for all the different elements this book brought, the cover does not do this story justice.
I am always a bit afraid to read books about aliens and humans. I have a whole big issue with how media and such portray aliens, always making them pretty much just like humans, but with a few different features. This was not the case in this book. I had nothing to worry about here, Kate Oliver must have the same idea about aliens that I do :)
Right away when I started this book, I felt for Cara. Being a military kid is hard, moving all the time, having to make friends over and over again. When her parents decided they were moving overseas, I can understand Cara not wanting to go. So she moves in with her sister, who is totally blunt and a spit fire, but very loveable character.
Will, when we first meet Will, my heart breaks for him. He is a man who is just destroyed. He is ready for it all to be over with, but Cara happens to find him. From there on out, the story between Cara and Will blossoms into an amazing and out of this world (bad pun I know) love story. This book had a very happy ending, but I can totally see where Kate Oliver can move on from this book and I cannot wait for the second book in this series.
