Summer's Crossing by Julie Kagawa
(The Iron Fey, #3.5)
Release Date: June 1, 2011
Publisher: Harlequin Teen; 72 pages
I didn’t think things could get any better after THE IRON QUEEN but boy was I wrong. SUMMER’S CROSSING is what every Puck fan has dreamed for. Though its only 79 pages long, it’s the best 79 pages I’ve read! This is a novella told from Puck’s point of view and you know it’s going to make you laugh.
Puck decides to join Prince Ash on his journey to find a way to be with Meghan in the Iron Kingdom but first the Exiled Queen decides now is a good time for Ash to make good on his promise to her. Someone has stolen her precious violin and she wants Ash to get it back because she’s not allowed in Nevernever. Turns out the Summer Queen has stolen it as they’ve been enemies for centuries, which means Puck is useful after all.
I just couldn’t stop smiling and laughing the entire time I was reading this. To know someone like Puck in real life would be an absolute joy, you have no idea. Ash is in for an ear full during his longer journey in THE IRON KNIGHT, that’s for sure!
I’ve also mentioned and strongly suggested buying the audiobook for this novella and I’m sticking to it. I’ve never purchased one before but when I met Julie in August, she told me I needed to hear it (seeing as I’m a Puck girl) and man, she was NOT lying. It’s voiced by Josh Hurley and he is absolutely perfect, dead on, for Puck’s voice. It will cost you less than $5 to purchase this – it’s worth the $5, I promise.
If you’ve read the other Iron Fey books, you should read this. It’s short, sweet and humorous – very enjoyable.

A Midsummer's Nightmare? Robin Goodfellow. Puck. Summer Court prankster, King Oberon's right hand, bane of many a faery queen's existence—and secret friend to Prince Ash of the Winter Court. Until one girl's death came between them, and another girl stole both their hearts.
Now Ash has granted one favor too many and someone's come to collect, forcing the prince to a place he cannot go without Puck's help—into the heart of the Summer Court. And Puck faces the ultimate choice—betray Ash and possibly win the girl they both love, or help his former friend turned bitter enemy pull off a deception that no true faery prankster could possibly resist.
