Jessica's Adventures At BEA

So, sadly I was only at BEA for Friday and Saturday . . . even though Saturday I avoided half the exhibit hall like the plague and we all know why. BOOKCON. But more on that later. Thursday I had to stay home in Maryland as I had to attend a wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner for my older brother who was getting married the Sunday following BEA (I know, I'm a little crazy). Even though I missed BEA I can safely say that Thursday was still as equally busy of a day here as it was in NY except I didn't get any cool books or meet any awesome authors or bloggers. But that's okay because I knew it was coming and I was excited.

Sana's BEA 2014 Write Up

So before BEA Jessica and I got together and had a talk.  We both agreed that we were going to have a different game plan this year.  We realized that since we are from the same blog there is no reason for us to pick up the same books.  Plus recently we've both had different reading taste.  For example I've been reading and reviewing contemporary and sci fi books.  And Jessica fantasy and paranormal.  Sometimes there are some that we both are interested in and have to decide who gets to review it.  For example we both wanted Anna Carey's Blackbird and Amy Ewing's The Jewel  (I am reviewing Blackbird and Jessica is reviewing The Jewel).  Bottom line is, we don't want to be greedy.

Book Expo America or BEA for short is a publishing event that takes place in North America.  It gives authors and publishers the chance to showcase their new releases to the book publishing industry.  Advanced Reader Copies of upcoming books are available for attendees to pick up.  Attendees often include authors, publishers, librarians, members of the press, etc.  In recent years, the final day of the conference is open to the public for what they call "Power Readers Day".

Stacking the Shelves #10

Stacking the Shelves is created & hosted by Tynga's Reviews and is a weekly meme sharing the books you've bought, borrowed or received for review.

I'm always jealous that Jess and Sana get to go to BEA, BUT my dear friend Becky over at Book Bite Reviews went to BEA and she totally hooked me up!! This is what I got!!

BEA Write Up!

So, I just go back from BEA (Book Expo America) today and let me tell you...it was a fun by exhausting week! However, I've become more familiar with the subways (about time, with the amount I go to NY as is).

Let's start off the week. I get up there on Monday around 2:00 PM and meet up with Julie Kagawa and Josh Hurley (you may know him as the voice of Puck from "Summer's Crossing" audiobook?) to hang out. (We wanted to play pool but there wasn't enough time to do this...) We go out to lunch talk about all sorts of different things then decide to walk around Central Park.
