Some people wait decades to meet their soul mate. Courtney Kaufman suspects she met hers in high school only to lose him at seventeen. Since then, Courtney's social life has been a series of meaningless encounters, though she's made a few close friends along the way. Especially her roommate Max Cooper, who oozes damaged bad-boy vibes from every pore.

Max knows about feeling lost and trying to move beyond the pain he's been on his own since he was sixteen. Now it's time to find out if he can ever go home again, and Courtney's the only one he trusts to go with him. But the trip to Providence could change everything because the more time he spends with Courtney, the harder it is to reconcile what he wants and what he thinks he deserves.

It started out so simple. One misfit helping another. Now Max will do anything to show Courtney that for every heart that's ever been broken, there's another that can make it complete.
While I surprised myself with actually liking Courtney as she annoyed me in previous books it was Max who let me down. As my favorite character from the series, he just didn't seem like the same Max I met earlier. Maybe I need to re-read the earlier books but I don't know. I think I'm also disappointed because I was really hoping it to be from his POV. These books are all with the original 2B members so it would've made sense...or at least, I thought so.

That being said, I did enjoy this book, more than I thought I would especially since I had a friend tell me her disappointment in it before I started. Don't judge me because I bet most people when they find out their friend was disappointed in a book, it makes you even more nervous about reading it, right? So I went in there with a little knowledge and a bit hesitant but, in my opinion, it wasn't as bad as she was making it out to be. That is my opinion and I know not everyone will have the same.

Courtney's personality was probably one of the best personalities I've read in books lately. YA or NA or really, any genre. She was just so much fun, pretty damn honest and frankly, likeable to just about anyone. So what, she's not perfect on the outside, tell me - who really is? She's not perfect on the inside either but she's definitely a lot more beautiful inside than most people are with outside beauty. To me, what makes a person beautiful isn't what we see but what we get to know. Their personality, their soul, their being is what makes a person attractive or not. That is what makes you fall in love with someone because if you're basing it just on appearance, that's not love, that's lust. Two completely different things.

As for Max, while I was a little thrown off by him in this book, I was glad. He is someone I want by my side. I kid you not, he may be my all-time favorite NA boy...or guy, if you will. He's almost like two different people. How the world views him (by that, I mean people not close to him) and those he's let in as his friends. He's a great guy, with a pretty crappy past that he's been running from.

There's so many secondary characters in this book that I love. I'm not sure what would be considered spoiler or not so I'll opt not to talk about them in details but man oh man did I love me some secondary characters. And I wish, oh I wish Angus could've had his own book because with a personality like his, he would've owned it like no other. But alas, I'm happy he was in each book and that will have to satisfy me for now.

I wish I could say this was my favorite book of the three because it features Max, whose my favorite character of the whole series but I just can't. I would probably list it as my least favorite but that's not a bad thing. It means this entire series was amazing and I wish there were more than three.
