So I came across this and decided I wanted to participate. It's a week worth of Top Ten's from 2013. Some are from anything I might've read in 2013 while others are for book strictly released in 2013. Today it's my Top Ten favorite books I read in 2013. If you saw our Best Books of 2013 giveaway hop, you've already seen my top 'ten' but here we go again.
My Top Ten is actually a Top Eleven because I couldn't narrow my last two books down so I'm calling it tie at the #10 spot. These books are ones I've read from January - November of this year.
Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas
I am obsessed with these books. I fell in love last year with Throne of Glass and now I've fallen harder with Crown of Midnight. I'm not sure I'm going to last waiting for the next book - I'm already dying for it! Team Chaol FTW!

Endless Knight by Kresley Cole
The first book, Poison Princess, took me by surprise but I didn't think I'd love the second book as much as I did. Especially the last half of the book. Oh, I am such a fangirl for Death.
Dark Triumph by Robin LaFevers
Grave Mercy started out slow for me but ended on such a high note that I had actually contacted the publisher to get an ARC of this book (one of my first I requested) and I devoured it. I fangirled so hard over this book and I fangirled so hard over Robin LaFevers when I met her.
Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare
The Infernal Devices is SO much better than The Mortal Instruments (imo) and Jem is one of my all-time favorite fictional characters and this was a fantastic conclusion to a favorite trilogy of mine. The Epilogue was full of all sorts of emotions.
Dare You To by Katie McGarry
I've read both Dare You To and Crash Into You but, while I loved them both, Dare You To sticks with me more. Maybe because I was never a fan of Beth's to begin with but after reading her book, I adore her? I already loved Isaiah so it was hard to love him much more (though it happened).
The Madman's Daughter by Megan Shepherd
This was the very first book I read in 2013 and it still among my favorites. I am staring at the second book, with my fingers twitching to read it. Almost time, my precious, almost time. This is a book I've recommended to almost anyone who asks for good books to read. It will continue to be a book I pimp.
Cress by Marissa Meyer
Cinder was excellent, Scarlet was better and I am excited to say that Cress was even better. I didn't really think it was possible for these books to get better than Scarlet (which I loved so much) but I've learned to expect the unexpected. I shouldn't be so surprised and when this book comes out in February, I'm reading it again (it's that good).
The Bitter Kingdom by Rae Carson
Hector, oh Hector I love thee. I've loved you from the beginning and you'll go down as one of the greatest book boyfriends of all time. But he's the icing on this epic cake; this book is filled with adventure, fantasy and one hell of a heroine. Did I mention a fantastic, yummy man named Hector?!
Horde by Ann Aguirre
This is another trilogy that just got better as it went along. This was the epic conclusion to this dystopian trilogy. Epic is putting it mildly. There were so many things that happened, so many feels that occurred and so many tears (both happy and sad). I still get emotional just thinking about this one scene in this book, even after months of trying to recover, my heart still can't take it.
Reboot by Amy Tintera & A Little Too Far by Lisa Desrochers
Reboot too me by surprise. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did but I am counting down the days (literally) for Rebel to arrive at my door. I read A Little Too Far on a whim because the publisher offered a review copy of the second book. I figured I'd try the first book, see how I liked it. Well, I stayed up until 7 am reading it so I'm going with it was fan-freaking-tabulous. Needless to say, I read the second book the following day.
I haven't read most of these. I know, can you believe it? :( i'm definitely meaning to read all the ones I haven't read yet though. I love Dare You To, Reboot and Clockwork Princess too though! Can't wait for more books from all these authors!
ReplyDeleteClockwork Princess made it on mine too! Right at the top. And I loved Crash into You more so I put that one on :) But loved DYT so much as well. I wish there were more spots so I could have added Dark Triumph as well. And omg so jealous you read Cress but so glad you loved it <3
ReplyDeleteCome check out my list :)
Oh, I loved Dark Triumph, it was everything I wanted after reading Grave Mercy. I'm excited for Mortal Heart, we haven't gotten the chance to really know Annith so I'm anxious to get my hands on it.
ReplyDeleteEndless Knight and Clockwork Princess both made my list as well! I can't wait to read Dark Triumph and Reboot, this is a great list =)
ReplyDeleteEmily @ Falling For YA
I've seen Cress on a lot of lists lately. I think I need to catch up on the series right away so I can read this as soon as it comes out...
ReplyDeleteExcellent selection of books. I see that me and you had a very different selection of books. I see The Madman's Daughter on some lists.
ReplyDeleteGrace
Books of Love

Oooh, so many titles that I want to read! Especially Maas' series!
ReplyDeleteBTW, I hope it's okay if I'm asking this here-- I wasn't a big fan of Kresley Cole's adult series, so I have to ask.. is this one different in tone? It's okay if it's dark, but are there tropes like Abduction is Love in these ones, too? Cause I really want to read them, but I'm a little afraid I might not enjoy them after all.
Thank you for sharing your top reads! Hope to see you tomorrow again, but if not: Happy Holidays!
Patricia
I really liked A Little Too Far and The Bitter Kingdom! And I have Endless Knight, Clockwork Princess, and The Madman's Daughter, but I have not read them yet. I should! They're on my bookshelf. Staring at me. Oh, the books... :D
ReplyDeleteHappy holidays!
Check out my Top Ten post!
Great picks! Endless Knight is in my top 10 of the year too lol. I still haven't read Cress yet, can't wait until it's released in Feb! :)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great and happy holidays!

Clockwork Princess and Crown of Midnight! LOVE those books. Excellent choices. Can't wait to read Cress.
ReplyDeleteWell, hopefully you'll be able to get to these books in 2014. I understand there's so many books and definitely not enough time for them all but I definitely recommend them all (obviously).
ReplyDeleteI love the Infernal Devices - this was my birthday present to myself as it came out right before my birthday. I didn't intend to be so depressed for my birthday but it was a fantastic ending to a beautiful trilogy. Definitely going in my top favorite series of all time. Cress is amazing. I thought Scarlet was brilliant but Cress blew it out of the water!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! :)
YES! Grave Mercy was fantastic but it was nothing compared to Dark Triumph. I was afraid I wasn't going to like DT because I loved Ismae & Duval too much that I wasn't sure I'd want a book with different leads but damn, did Robin LaFevers prove me wrong. I can't wait for Mortal Heart!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I definitely recommend those!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! :)
YES! You definitely need to. I love this series.
ReplyDeleteDifferent isn't always a bad thing. Just maybe means we have different taste! I'm going to take a look at your list to see what you had! :)
ReplyDeleteYou know, I've never read her adult series. Poison Princess was her first book I read and now I want to read her adult series, to see if it's as good. It is dark, that's a definite but I'm not sure. Book two is a little bit darker but I don't think so? But now I'm really curious about her other series!
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays, to you, too. I'm finally catching up on comments since it's my first free day to be on the computer for more than a few! :)
It sucks that there's so many books to read & impossible to find the time to read them, right? *sigh* Clearly, I recommend reading the ones you listed but it's the problem of finding the time to read them. I hate when books stare at me. It makes me feel guilty, they're sitting there...untouched while others are getting all the attention ;) lol
ReplyDeleteYES! I knew Endless Knight would be there for you ;) Cress is amazing and I hope you'll love it, come February!
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a happy holiday, as well and a safe and fun New Year's! :)
Thank you! LOVE those books SO much! I hope you really like Cress - it was amazing!!
