Happy Halloween/ Blessed Samhain! Today is an amazing day and I'm pretty happy that I get to share this review with you guys.
Thanks goes to Harlequin Teen via Netgalley for the copy of this book! This copy was exchanged for an honest review.
I'll start with the cover. I adore the colors that are swirling around. I love the castle since this is set in the Tudor era and it really ties everything together.
As a Wiccan, I cringe whenever there's a book about witches that falls into my hands. This however was a great book! There are accurate portrayals, as well as inaccuracies, that make it into the book. I understand that this witchcraft and these witches are completely different from modern day Wicca, which is why I'm ok with the portrayals of both the practice and the people.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters are believable and I adore Meg and the frustrating romance the blooms between her and Alejandro. This is jam-packed with adventure, mystery, suspense and romance.
Throughout the novel I did get a bit annoyed with Meg because she's one of these girls that won't allow anyone to really get close and help her. I also don't like how she endangers everyone because she can't control herself with her magic. I hate how she fights Alejandro tooth and nail over their attraction and how she's not willing to make sacrifices for them when she asks him to do the same. Either way I really enjoyed the book and I'm looking forward to reading the second in the series.
