Olivia has been on the run from the government of Cabal since the marriage ceremony. Finally settling in and finding herself a place to call home in Shadow, Olivia and Joshua prepare for the uprising that they and the rebel alliance have been planning for months.

With new abilities and special talents from Mindonsiphan, Olivia learns she can do more than most ordinary eighteen year olds. Learning both to hide and perfect her skills will be one of the biggest challenges she'll be forced to face.

A constant rollercoaster of emotion and adventure await Olivia and Joshua as they embark on a journey to the rebel city of Torv, and what was once home, Genesis.

Character Interview with Olivia Parker

How did you feel when your mother finally told you the truth about your history?
At first I was devastated. Why was I being charged for a crime that I didn’t commit? I didn’t ask to be born. The more the ideas turned like cogs in my head, I realized I was lucky and loved. She did this because she wanted me.

Did you ever feel safe in Haven, or did it just feel like a expansion of Genesis?
I think the first moment I arrived in Haven, before meeting Rebecca, I felt safe. Just knowing that the rebel alliance was going to help us had eased my mind. Then when she opened her mouth, everything changed.

Did you deep down inside always know that Joshua was the one for you?
I wish I could say I did. When you’re young and playing together, you don’t think about “The Day of the Chosen.” Having a husband selected for me by the government, it never gave me the opportunity to consider any other option. Deep down he’s always been my best friend and I’ve always cared intensely for him. If he gets hurt, I feel pain along with him. Maybe that’s love.

With all of your running, what is your biggest fear while running from the people who want to capture you?
I’m terrified that something will happen to Joshua.

When you first arrived at Shadow, what was going through your mind?
With a gun pointed at us, I was scared to death. I thought that a new town and a new life would be what we both needed. Then they started talking about recruits and tests. It felt like another nightmare we’d found ourselves in.

Going back to question 3 a little bit, when did you realize that you loved Joshua?
I’m not sure there was a moment where suddenly I saw Joshua differently. I do remember lying with him outside on the morning of “The Day of the Chosen” and feeling jealous that another girl could be marrying him. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have felt that way if I didn’t already love him. I guess what I’m saying is, I can’t remember a time not feeling that way about. Maybe I’ve always loved him.

When you all realized that the Mindonsiphan had given you special talents, what was going through your head? Positive thing or negative?
I remember the initial rush of adrenaline. It was a mix of fear and hope. I thought that maybe if we understood what we’d become, we could use it to leave Shadow.

What are you truly scared of now?
I worry that something will happen to Joshua. Whether it’s in the uprising on Cabal or the government drones that attack our cities. I love him and I don’t want to lose him.
