Young Authors Give Back Tour Recap, Interview & Giveaway

As you know, authors Sarah J. Maas (Bloomsbury), Kat Zhang (Harper), Erin Bowman (Harper) & Susan Dennard (Harper) just concluded their amazing Young Authors Give Back tour and if you didn't get a chance to attend then I'm here to tell you all about it; at least the stop in Baltimore! I would like to thank Jennifer from Kaye Publicity for allowing me this amazing opportunity.
Sarah J. Maas & Susan Dennard

I didn't get the chance to attend the workshop because I don't fit the age requirements but I did go to the signing afterward and just seeing the reactions on these young aspiring authors faces were enough to confirm how unique & wonderful their experience was. The signing, itself, was nice because each author talked a little bit about themselves and their work along with each others work. You can tell, by looking at this group of ladies, that they truly are great friends and appreciate each other more than they can truly say.

Erin Bowman
I was able to hang out with them for awhile before they had to attend the workshop and it was just a fun, amazing time. They took the time to answer some of my questions as well as just be themselves.  Sarah and Susan are, by far, the goofy ones of the group and can always guarantee you'll be laughing right along with them. Just seeing them interact with one another in a laid back setting was refreshing. Sure, I go to plenty of group author events but nothing felt like this event did. You sometimes feel that authors are most reserved in group settings or cautious of what to say but not these ladies.
Jodi Meadows

If you didn't get a chance to attend the workshop or at least the signing then I'm sorry; truly I am because these four have quickly become some of my favorite authors; not just in their work (since they already were) but as people. You may think I'm excluding Jodi, but I'm not - Jodi has been up at the top for awhile now and it's always a fun time seeing her! I was lucky enough to be able to hang out with her twice in one month. You see . . . authors are people just like us; they're just incredibly creative and gifted.

Kat Zhang
So, this is an audio interview. Instead of uploading it as one big interview (it's like 30 minutes long); I broke it down to two parts so you don't have to listen to the almost 40 minute long interview all together. Also, I want to warn you there is background music because we were sitting inside Panera Bread - I don't believe there's too much background talking, though. Also, near the end of the first video is when Jodi shows up and their reaction to her being there is quite priceless!

While I was at this event I made sure to get a copy of each authors book signed. Not just for myself but an extra one for a few lucky readers. Today, I'll be giving away one of these signed books. The winners choice on what they'd like to have.

  • Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas [hardcover]
  • Incarnate by Jodi Meadows [paperback]
  • Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard [hardcover]
  • What's Left of Me by Kat Zhang [hardcover]
  • Taken by Erin Bownman [hardcover]

Jodi, Sarah, Jessica (me), Kat, Erin & Susan!

  11. I wanted to say yay! I made it to the Baltimore signing too but had to drive a bit so hearing these interviews that sort of extend the experience is really cool. Thanks so much for getting and posting them.
