Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick Review

Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick
(Hush, Hush, #4)
Release Date: October 23, 2012
Publisher: Simon & Schuster; 454 pages
Will love conquer all?

Nora and Patch thought their troubles were behind them. Hank is gone and they should be able to put his ugly vendetta to rest. But in Hank's absence, Nora has become the unwitting head of the Nephilim and must finish what Hank began. Which ultimately means destroying the fallen angels - destroying Patch.

Nora will never let that happen, so she and Patch make a plan: lead everyone to believe they have broken up, and work the system from the inside. Nora will convince the Nephilim that they are making a mistake in fighting the fallen angels, and Patch will find out everything he can from the opposing side. They will end this war before it can even begin.

But the best-laid plans often go awry. Nora is put through the paces in her new role and finds herself drawn to an addictive power she never anticipated.

As the battle lines are drawn, Nora and Patch must confront the differences that have always been between them and either choose to ignore them or let them destroy the love they have always fought for.

The end. I hate endings. They're so bittersweet. I especially hate this ending. Not in the sense that it's bad but just because my heart was broken. Shattered either. I'm not sure I can recover from the damage reading this caused. I will move on and hopefully recover. *sigh*

Silence was probably my favorite book from the series and the ending had me so excited for Finale. I couldn't give this book five stars because I would say the first third of the book was just really...lackluster for me. I may even say the first half of the book was meh but then things improved. A lot. I understand the first half of the book and I understand it's importance but it doesn't mean it was extremely enjoyable.

I can't even think of the right words to say right now as my mind is constantly going over one scene over and over again. But I will try my hardest. Patch is amazing throughout this book. I am totally a supporter of Patch and Nora, these two were made for each but everyone who knows me knows my heart is completely and utter with Scott. However, Patch was pretty hot and just...amazing in this book. He loves Nora with all that he's made of and man, how lucky is Nora? Not only is he hot but he's completely and utter dedicated to her and her alone. Though, we may question his loyalty a few times throughout this book as Nora does, as well.

Oh, did I mention Dante? I certainly have not! What is WRONG with me? Well, actually - a lot. I really liked Dante a lot in the beginning, like a LOT. See, that shows you just how much is wrong with me. Dante is Black Hand's right hand man and now has become Nora's right hand man since she's replaced her father, Hank Miller, as the ruler of the Nephilim army. He also acts a lot like a publicist for her, it's kind of amusing. Telling her she needs to change her appearance so the other Nephilim will respect her, by starting off with a respectable Nephilim boyfriend. Even if it's just for show. He first suggests Scott but she can't do that because he's like a brother to her plus, Vee likes him. You can't betray your best friend like that. So he then suggests him. She also has to stage a fight with Patch so people believe their break up. Sounds a bit Hollywood, right? I absolutely loved that.

Nora, well she goes through a lot in this novel. She changes her mind a lot, too, though a lot of the times it's because of an outside influence (read the book to find out what I mean with that) but mainly, her changing her mind is about whether or not to actually go to war with the Fallen Angels. She also gains herself a new roommate. Marcie Miller, our favorite person. That adds a lot of tension and humor to the story.

You see how strong Nora's friendship are during this book, how far she's willing to go to keep hold of the one thing she can't live without, Patch. You see great loss in this book, betrayal, heartbreak, romance, action and yes, even stupid decisions. It's a great, moving ending to a fantastic series. It's one I highly recommend.

*highlight to view spoiler* WHY OH WHY did Scott have to die?! When he was stabbed in the chest and the Dante twisted the sword, oh it felt like that's exactly what Becca was doing to me. Oh, it hurt...it really truly hurt. Anyone could've died but him! I actually don't think I've ever read a story where the guy I loved most kicked it in the end. *sigh* It hurts man, it really, truly does... *end spoiler*

  1. I have read all the other books in this series and I keep seeing it at
the store and I almost buy it and then I don't. But, with all of the
books I have read I felt the same way you did, looking back on what I
remember of the series, now I just don't think I would enjoy it. Thanks
    for your thoughts!

  2. What a great way to end it all.
I'm simply astonished with the way she's created these beautiful stories
since hush, hush. I am enamored with these books. I am extremely pained
to see it come to and end. These books will be forever close to my
heart. Kudos to Becca for creating these masterpieces. I will be reading
these books again. Maybe one day I'll meet the lady behind these
    wonderful books.
