Gossip girl meets Hollywood in this new series by That Boy author, Jillian Dodd.
Keatyn has everything she ever dreamed of. Her life is following the script she wrote for the perfect high school experience. She’s popular, goes to the best parties, dates the hottest guy, and sits at the most coveted lunch table.
She’s just not sure she wants it anymore.
Because really, things aren’t all that perfect. Her best friend is threatening to tell everyone her perfect relationship is a scam. Her perfect boyfriend gets drunk at every party they go to.
It’s exhausting always trying to look and act perfect.
And deep down, she isn’t sure if she has any true friends.
To add to the drama, her movie star mom’s long-time fan has turned stalker.
An older man is flirting with her and telling her they should make a movie together.
And she’s crushing on an adorable surfer. Dating a guy like him would mean committing social suicide.
So she writes a new script. One where all the pieces of her life will come together in perfect harmony.
But little does she know, there’s someone who will do anything to make sure that doesn’t happen.
I got the chance to interview the amazing Damian, who is one of Keatyn's surfer friends/rockstar. Let's see what he had to say:
If you weren't a singer, what do you think you
would be doing right now?
I’d probably be starting my own label. I’m not sure what
will happen with our band, but I see myself in the music industry in some way.
Can you tell us about that night you tripped on
the stage and fell flat on your face?
I guess I probably deserve this question, since I’m
always teasing Keats about her drunken night. Let’s see if I can set this up
right. Hot girl crush in the audience wearing the shortest skirt I think I’d
ever seen. I’m not usually nervous on stage, but she made me nervous. I downed
a few shots. Went out there. Tried to impress. I was going to be all suave and
sing to her. I sauntered toward the edge of the stage, my eyes locked to hers
while I sang. Then I tripped over a speaker. Not only did I fall flat on my
face, I also fell off the stage and landed on one of her shoes. I never
bothered to try and get her number.
Did you ever consider yourself the third-wheel?
And, what did you think of Keatyn and Brooklyn 's,
er, relationship/fling?
I’ve known Brook for a couple years. I’ve know Keats my
whole life. I think if anything, he felt like a third wheel at first. I should
also point out that I was the one who started calling her Keats. At her dad’s
funeral, someone must’ve read a poem by John Keats. I wasn’t very old, only
eight, but I remember thinking I hated to see her cry. I wasn’t really
listening to the service, but I heard the word Keats and for some reason it
stuck in my brain and I started calling her that. When Brook started calling
her Keats too, it kinda pissed me off. And when she told me about his “Keats
for my Keats” I kinda wanted to punch him. She’s always been my Keats.
My friend. I’ve never thought Brook was the right guy for her, but she crushed
on him. I was happy for her when they got together, but I could tell it was
already falling apart when they visited us on tour. He seemed on edge all the
time. She was having a blast. Keatyn’s a pretty girl. Guys notice her, for
sure. It’s going to take a guy with a lot of confidence to be with her long
term. I never expected them to be much more than a fling. He’s not the right
guy for her. Did you notice that it was me she clung to after the incident and
not him?
Do you have any funny stories from your European tour?
Will we be seeing more of Damian and Twisted
Dreams in the future?
I’ll definitely be around. And I think I need a love
story of my own. Hint. Hint.
Quick Fire Questions:
If you had to choose one:
Own a Cat or Dog? Dog. I have a
Golden Retreiver at my dad’s house. His name is Buoy and his favorite thing is
to chase a ball into the ocean.
Sex or Money? If I had to live
without one, hmm. Well, it seems if you have money, sex is easy to find. I’d
prefer Love though, honestly.
Alcohol or Weed? Weed. No hangover.
But since it’s, like, illegal, I’m sure I would never use it. So alcohol in
moderation.
House Party or Clubs? If we’re talking
chilling with friends, I’d rather go to a house party. If we’re talking
performing, I’d rather be on stage at a club.
Stalk or be stalked? I was with Keats
after the incident. I’ve always admired how she
never seems to be afraid of
anything. But she was a shaking, crying wreck. I’d have to choose neither,
thanks.
Go surfing back in Malibu
or Tour the rest of the world with Twisted Dreams? Surfing is
something I do to relax. I love it, but music is my first love. I don’t know
that I’d want to be on tour my whole life. It’s amazing and exciting, but very
tiring. But it’d be the music.
Keatyn or Brooklyn ? Brooklyn is my
bud. I enjoy surfing and chilling with him. But Keats has been my friend for
most of my life, so if forced to chose, it’d be her. Hands down.
