Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring…. until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don’t kill him first, that is

Aliens are not my thing. Mainly because you think aliens and you think green creatures with massively huge heads. Ick. But oh no, aliens that look like us? I can dig it. I honestly love going into books and not really knowing anything about them. You’re probably wondering how I even know to read a book? AND before you accuse me it is NOT because of a book cover (though covers do draw you in) but it’s primarily based on recommendations from friends. Or in my case, Stacey O’Neale. She’s a publicist at Entangled Publishing (and a friend) and any time she talks about a book, I know I need to get my hands on it. I never read the back of this book and it makes everything more exciting. (Though, I did know aliens were involved but I love the Lorien Legacies and that’s all about aliens, I’m coming around to them).

This all being said, if you don’t follow Stacey on twitter, you need to. She knows good books and you’ll want to listen to her recommendations. OBSIDIAN was amazing. I literally went into work one morning with maybe three hours of sleep because I couldn’t put this down the night before. I kept telling myself to put it down; I needed to be up in a few hours. I’ll put it down at the end of this chapter but the chapter would end & I needed more; I couldn’t leave it hanging there. Words of advice: Don’t EVER try stopping yourself at the end of a chapter, it’s nearly impossible.

Now let’s talk about this hottie Daemon, shall we? Green eyes, they’re a weakness for me. Daemon has super bright green eyes as does his twin sister, Dee. These siblings couldn’t be more opposite if the author, Jennifer L. Armentrout tried. When we first meet the shirtless, sexy Daemon one word comes to mind: Douche. Yet when we meet Dee for the first time one word that comes to mind is: bubbly. She’s so positive and so giddy it makes you wonder how these two are related, let alone twins. As annoying as Dee first was, with her personality, I fell in love with her. (In a non-romantic way, of course) She’s a great friend with Katy and she tries so hard to get her brother, Daemon to play nice with their new neighbor, Katy.
Talking about Katy the one thing I LOVE about her (one of the things, I should say) is how she’s a book reviewer and has a blog. Obviously, lots of us YA book readers will adore this. It’s a big shout out to the fans and it’s a fantastic addition. A character that is not only awesome but loves to read as much as a lot of us readers do? BONUS!

I could sit here all day talking about all the things I loved regarding this book but you would probably fall asleep. So instead, how about you go out and get a copy for yourself...you'll be thanking me later. Find out for yourself how delicious Daemon is; how awesome West Virginia has turned out to be! (No offense to those who live in that state) Entangled Publishing is turning out to be an amazing publishing company. I’ve read 4 of their books (Touch, Hushed, Obsidian & Out in Blue) and haven’t been disappointed at all. Give them a chance, I bet you’ll be looking into more and more of their books, like I am!
