These types of books are my favorite lately, so I took the chance to read this book right away. It is always interesting to see how different authors make up the different post apocalyptic worlds. This was a world that I haven't read before. I have read books about post apocalyptic worlds that are on an island but they are very different from this one.
The story starts out with a funeral, and the questions about the island seem to begin right away. This book moves pretty fast, which isn't a bad thin, it makes it a fast easy read, but it definitely could have been spread out more, and some stories and different aspects given more time to read about. But it doesn't make the story any less interesting. Once things more to the point where the main character gets the chance to leave the island, that's when I couldn't put the book down.

Once Ashley and Mason get to the mainland, and discover it is in ruins and covered in ash and once they decided to sleep what happens next was just weird for me. Ashley gets killed off, quite abruptly too, and it took my completely by surprise and really changed the story for me. It seemed very out of the blue for her to die so quickly and in that manner. This is where my rating dropped a bit for this book.
The book moved very fast after this **spoiler** but it was very interesting how quickly things developed and I am very intrigued to see what happens in the next book, and even though I didn't like certain things, I will be reading the next one :)
