Have you read the Winner's Curse yet? Have you loved it, like I did? Are you excited about the Winner's Crime next month? It's amazing - better than the first book, in my opinion. So I'm here today to celebrate the upcoming release of the sequel but also to celebrate the beauty of the first book. The publisher, Macmillan, asked us to answer one question and it's got me thinking - there are so many answers to this one question so here's my answer and I'd love to hear you answer in the comments!
And don't forget, you could play BITE & STING just like they play in the book!
The ‘Winner’s Curse’ is an economics term that means you’ve gotten what you wanted – but at too high a price. What would you pay too much for?
Where do I start with this? I could sit there and say I'd pay a lot for immortality or maybe to become rich & famous or to become successful. I could pay too much for any of those things. But above all of those things that many of us would love to have (some of us would maybe only take a few of those) I want happiness. I want to live my life full of happiness. We know how hard that is in today's society so I feel like asking for this, receiving this could come at a price much higher than anyone, including myself, is really willing to pay.
Happiness can come from many things; love, success, health, normality - many, many different things. I want it all. I want to be happy and to never have a day where I wasn't. I know that I would annoy a lot of people but it's all I'd want. Because then I'd feel like my life was lived to it's fullest. If I was never unhappy then this life was worth it. I was worth it. That's what we strive to do in life - make a mark, no matter how small, in this world and I feel like complete happiness is a way to do.
What about you? What would you pay too much for?

I'm doing this giveaway a little different. I don't have a rafflecopter so instead, leave a blog post comment with an email address where you can be reached or a twitter that I can message you at. Please, in your comment, answer the tour question - I'd be really curious to see what your willing to pay too much for!
The prize will be your choosing of EITHER The Winner's Curse OR The Winner's Crime by Marie Rutkoski. This giveaway is open to US residents, only (sorry!) and if you choose the second book, you'll have to wait until later this month/early next month until they're at the publisher's office. This giveaway will end on Friday, February 19 @ 11:59 PM EST!
Again - leave a comment with what you're willing to pay too much for!
I don't know if you can really pay too much for anything, if it is important to you. But I'm going with my health - not sure you can pay too much for that, but I guess I would. Thanks! :) Twitter handle: @KristyPetree
ReplyDeleteMy winner's curse could be a lot of different things: A '60s muscle car (Camaro or Mustang), endless amounts of coffee to drink, an ever expanding bookshelf of YA fiction, but I think the most important thing would be my family's and friends' health and safety. I'd gladly endure a winner's curse for them, plus, there would probably be an Arin or Ronan on the other side, so...it's a win/win situation.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!

I think that obviously health for friends and family, but in terms of more material type things....I feel like I had my own version of it with the Veronica Mars Kickstarter. I paid more than the cost of a ticket to a movie or a DVD, but it was worth it to me to make sure that it was made and had a good budget.

ReplyDeleteI'd choose for my family to be healthy. But if I got to choose something fun instead, it would be travel. There are so many places in the world that are my must visit list and I'd love to be able to see them all.

In the future I would love to go to Iceland and/or Scotland to see the Northern Lights. Also, a reading nook with a window seat and shelves would be great. These are things I would definitely pay too much for.

I'm willing to pay too much for books and traveling! I have this little dream where I want to build a mini-library whenever I have my own house. I would like to display all the books that I own like in Beauty and the Beast. (Although that library is massive! haha) Also, I hope to one day backpack across Europe and Australia/New Zealand. It would be an amazing experience. So those 2 are the things I would pay far too much for.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this amazing chance! I'm a huge fan of Marie Rutkoski. I loved The Winner's Curse and after I finished it, I was dying to read The Winner's Crime. Now that it's finally released I am so happy! :)

I would pay too much for material things, like books and movies and ice cream, but I would also pay too much for happiness. Actually, the material things I mentioned contribute to my happiness.
