I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this book. If you've read my reviews of the previous two books, you'll know I really struggled with Make It Count. Nearly DNFed it but I was willing to give the second book, Make It Right, a chance because it was based on a character I grew fond of, Max. Turns out, it was the best decision I ever made because I loved it. Now, coming in to Make It Last, I knew it could go either way (or even in the middle) but I wanted to give it a shot, too. Turns out, in the middle it went. This book was good, it was cute and I really enjoyed both the characters and the storyline but the pacing is what really threw me off. I got to the 49% mark and I was shocked. I felt like it should've been near the end (granted, the book ended at 81% but I was thinking I should've been at the 95% mark at this rate). It felt dragged out in parts and it just felt . . . slow. That is the only negative thing about this story but unfortunately, it's a big negative. It could make or break a reader in to continuing with the book. Granted, it's the final book so if you've stuck with a series this far, I know you'll stick with until the very end (and you'll be glad you did).
Actually. Now that the story is over, I wish there would be more. It was left open for the possibility of more and I hope that happens, down the road. I'll read it.
Cam is one I neither liked nor disliked in any previous book. I had no feelings about him at all, really. To me, he was just a character who was there and seemed like a good guy but that's really all. A filler, if you will, so I wasn't sure coming in to this book. Turns out, he truly is a great guy, with a fantastic personality and a bit of rough past when it comes to relationships. His heart was broken, more like shattered, by one girl and she's about to turn his world upside down, once again.
Tate is really fun. I didn't like her in the beginning, because of what she did to Cam in the past but she grew on me the more I read. By the end, I was so happy with her. Her father is amazing - especially with everything he is going through. Her brother is the same as her; I didn't like him at all in the beginning but the more he was around, the more he grew on me. I love characters who grow on me, ones I felt so differently for in the beginning from the end.
This book is filled with hardships. In every kind of relationship you can think of. Not to mention, Cam's future. His bright future, at that. The struggles are real and the struggles are painful; not just for our two main characters but for many secondary characters involved. You just want to hug them all.
Not spoiling anything but there's a scene at the end of this book, where all the characters from the previous books come together and it's glorious. My only complaint is it wasn't long enough. It was bliss reading them all together, especially like this. I wanted more. But I loved what I got.
