Kara Marcus is desperate to forget the past and move on. But she can’t escape her choices—especially when she finds herself falling in love…

Since the first day she stepped into her childhood Southern Baptist church, two truths have been engrained in Kara Marcus’s head: sex before marriage is bad and murder is a sin. And that’s why Kara can never forgive herself for what she did at the age of sixteen.

Now, as second semester of freshman year comes to a close, Kara has stood by her high school boyfriend, Ethan. But as they seem to grow further and further apart every day, Kara realizes that she has feelings for someone else: Ethan’s roommate Colt.

Suddenly, Kara’s clear-cut world shifts out of focus, and she’s torn between what her head tells her is right and what her heart is desperately pushing her to do—even if it means committing another undeniable sin...
New Adult has this obsession with companion novels for their series instead of a whole series based on just two characters. I always thought I’d hate it because I become too attached to characters to let them only have one book but surprisingly, I’m okay with this. I’m glad it’s not a big thing in YA because I don’t know if I’d feel the same about it there.

I adored Pieces of Olivia and while I wasn’t sure I would love Miles from Kara as much as I liked Pieces of Olivia, I am super happy to be so surprised because I loved this book. So damn much. I never wanted to it to end and this is where I might have issues with the companion novel idea. I don’t know how you can go from a story as perfect as this and follow it up and outshine both Colt and Kara. I don’t see how it’s possible but I’m eager to see it done.

Our two lead characters were so perfect, not only for each other but as individuals. I feel like I'm about to trash talk Olivia and Preston but honestly, Kara and Colt are a million times better than them. Colt, while he may appear to be a bit more of a bad boy, based on appearance, he'll surprise you. He's entirely considerate, sweet, romantic and just everything you'd want. Did I mention an Australian accent? That's always a bonus. While Kara is dealing with things that have happened to her in her past and not-so-great family, Colt has his skeletons, too. Seeing them deal with their issues together and alone seemed as realistic as you could hope for.

Not to mention the biggest issue these two face is the fact that Kara is still dating her longtime boyfriend, Ethan. While they are growing more and more apart, she'd never cheat on him. Add to the mix that Colt is Ethan's roommate and you're just asking for trouble. Tension hits some pretty high high's and you can only hope they all come out of their situations in one piece.

Colt is one of my new NA boyfriends. He is everything I'd want in life, accent and all. Please find me him in real life and I will make you my BFF for life. I kid you not.

I'm excited for the next book and I think it's going to be pretty tough. Subject matter, that is. But I'm excited to read them because the one thing Melissa has been able to do with this series is make not only her characters realistic, but the issues they're facing, as well.

Thank you so much to ATOMR Tours for allowing me to be a part of the blog tour & a big thank you to Penguin for allowing me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
