So, I haven't posted many personal posts on my blog - mainly because I feel like I'm rather boring. This post will probably prove my point but alas, here I am.
I work at a movie theatre. I've been working there for way too long. I'm a manager, so I get to boss people around all day (though, if you ask them, they'll say I don't). I typically am very nice to work with unless you useless and don't do any work than don't expect me to treat you better than you deserve. I work with teenagers every day, all day so reading YA is relate-able because I'm around those types of voices all the time. I enjoy my job, most of the people I work with and most of all, the free movies. The best perk of the job is being able to see any movie for free. Plus bringing in friends, too.
I tried to do the whole college thing and I just couldn't. I hated school and hated everything about it but it was more than that. I didn't know what I wanted to do for my career and I couldn't find the desire to go through school for general studies until I made up my mind. It's a good thing, too because I still don't have an idea. At one point, I was very passionate about photography but honestly, unless you really make it into that business, it's not very ideal for living. No one tells you when you're younger how hard this could be. I wish I knew that way I could go back to school (which I've considered) but I'm still as lost as I was ten years ago.
I loved going to concerts. My very first concert was when I was 13. I am aging myself here but it was amazing. It was Hanson. I had 75th row seats (now, keep in mind this was before big screens were a thing) on the floor and they were so tiny looking but that didn't bother me. I was in the same place at the same time breathing the same air as Hanson. I was a happy 13 year old. To this day, I am still a Hanson fan and I don't think I'll ever stop. Sadly, I haven't seen them live in about 10 years but I still buy all their music and jam out when I can. I'm big on Maroon 5, Avril Lavigne, Carrie Underwood, Ed Sheeran and more recently, Bastille, MAGIC, Phillip Phillips and Meghan Trainor. I've attended about 80 concerts since that very first one, including three *N SYNC concerts back in the day. So all you BSB fans can just walk the other way . . . ;-)
I'd talk about reading but y'all know I love doing that. But what I also love is going to book events and meeting the lovely ladies (and sometimes even gentleman) behind the words. Meeting the authors is an amazing experience every time I'm blessed with the opportunity. I've met some of the most fabulous people this way (other readers and authors alike). Not to mention, I have fangirled only a handful of times and the most incredible one was after meeting J.K. FREAKING Rowling. As a true Potterhead, it was like a dream come true and I will cherish that day forever and ever and ever and ever and . . . well, you get my point.
I don't know . . . I'm rambling. I do that a lot. I like to talk. But I'm shy. It's a weird combination. I don't feel like a whole lot of people know me because I don't talk about myself a lot. Or at least, the deep stuff. I'm a very private person. I currently am crushing on two different guys. One is only a few years younger than me and the other . . . well, let's just say . . . I was questioning what categorizes one as a cougar. Don't worry, he's of age - I'm not that bad. I've made some of the coolest friends because of book blogger and being a reader in general. One of them is Steph from Cuddlebuggary. She's da bomb diggity.
Have you skipped ahead at this point just to see what I'm giving away? I would've, too . . . so no judging here!
So I have the option of two prizes to choose from (if you're in the US) or one prize you could win (if you're outside the US). I'm giving away a box of books (which is anywhere from 10-15 books, depending on size) which you can select from a picture I will send the winner. The other prize I am giving away, which will be available to anyone is a signed copy of White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout.
The giveaway will run until 11:59 PM EST on November 29. You have until then to enter. You will get one entry for this giveaway, per the giveaway rules. Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor!

ReplyDeletethank you a lot for the giveaway but also for telling us about yourself
At first I skipped through to the giveaway because I'm shallow like that, but then I went back and read your post. Wow. Thank you for getting personal. This is what I hoped for, getting to know people through this blog hop. So thank you for honouring that.

I once played folk songs from my friend's homeland on my flute for my friend's birthday gift. I felt a bit like the little drummer boy, but my friend loved it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI'm from Brazil. I'm the kind of person who has over a hundred unread books on her shelf and yet still freaks out when a week goes by and she doesn't buy/win at least one new book.
Your paragraph about college really hit home for me too. I didn't go for the same reasons as you: I just didn't know what I wanted to do with my life and career. I think I have a general idea now, but still nothing totally concrete. I totally thought I'd have this all figured out by time I was an adult, but it doesn't seem to work out that way. And then I feel really bad because it seems like my friends have it all figured out. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI collect fridge magnets...I LOVE them. Especially other countries(although I don't get out of the state's, I have people lucky enough to travel get me some) and I used to be a CEAZY Beanie Babie collector, and now I have a ton of them that aren't worth anything to anyone but me....thanks for the giveaway
ReplyDeleteYou think you're dating yourself?!? I saw Quiet Riot (google them LOL) when I was thirteen. Now, that's old. I've done office work since I was about 17. I also tried college, but had a bad home life so I had to quit to work full time and move out. I have 1-year secretarial certificate (not the kind of thing you frame and hang proudly above your desk, but I'm still proud of it). I live in Missouri, so of course I'm scared of tornados. And brown recluse spiders. Dang, I'm scared of a ton of things! Young adult is my favorite reading genre, but I read a really big variety. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the giveaway! its awesome
ReplyDeleteI love to read I read 24/7. I also love listening to music. When I s in 6th grade I read 10 million words and because of that some people from the school gave me an iPod! I'm from Guatemala and moved the Florida 4 years ago. I love it here :-) and my favorite color is blue. One of my favorite books is Demons at Deadnight by A&E Kirk
ReplyDeleteYour mention of college...that really struck me. When I first started applying back in my senior year of high school, I applied as a history major. Then I changed it to international affairs. And now, I'm back to history and starting at a new university and this one will probably not be the one I end up graduating from because they don't have everything I want, but it's here for the interim.
ReplyDeleteMy point is, college is hard. I wish I knew a solid path, so I totally get where you're coming from.
I love reading YA books and thanks for the giveaway!! :)
ReplyDeleteReading is one of the ways I escape the real world (isn't it that way for everyone? haha)! But I deal with anxiety everyday, so it's a nice escape!
ReplyDeleteI dropped out of college too. I hated high school and I felt like I was pushed into going to college. It was different and It felt weird. I also don't know what I want to do in life.
ReplyDeleteI am a sophomore in college!
ReplyDeleteI was an N*Sync fan, too! Yay! And I went to college and STILL don't know what I want to do with my career. It's a lifelong issue for everyone, I think.
ReplyDeleteI force myself to read 100 pages every day. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI am pursuing Computer Science Engineering and all I really wanna do in my life is to travel across the globe :)
ReplyDeleteI also love going to concerts, though I haven't been to nearly as many! Concerts make me feel alive. I love learning but don't like school - something about having to do it rather than doing it because I want to, even when it's something I'm interested in.
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem with I like talking but I'm also very shy. :)
ReplyDeleteSomething about me... well I've worked for 2 different book stores. Unfortunately they both closed. But it totally wasn't my fault!
I too am shy, but I am a chatter box around my friends or fellow book lovers. Don't ask me about my favorite books if you want me to shut up anytime soon. Something about me: I read up to three books at a time, because picking one at a time is just too hard.
ReplyDeleteA little thing I consider one of my greatest accomplishments was introducing the Percy Jackson series to my school when I was in 4th grade. A boy saw me reading it one day, asked to borrow it, and after that, there was a whole line of people. :D
ReplyDeleteThe first concert I went to was when I was 15. It was Metallica. My favorite concert ever was David Bowie! :)
ReplyDeleteI love to read, and I collect items that have butterflies on them. Thanks for having the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI did NOT skipped ahead :) I know you worked at a movie theater, but not that you loved concerts or hated the college thing (I loved both!) Being able to meet so many fabulous authors and bloggers is one of the big perks of blogging!
ReplyDeleteHI! A little fact about me is that I am a quarter Japanese!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm pretty boring, too. But I love my job...I'm a librarian. Also a manager, so I, too, get to boss people around!
ReplyDeleteHi! I am a former English major who now works for the USPS. I met my husband because of Harry Potter. I'm also a former book blogger. This is a great giveaway! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI know for a fact that college isn't for everyone. I finished with my degree, was so sure I was going to law school until I got diagnosed withLupus. It's basically made worse w/stress. So a job as a lawyer working long hours high stress is basically the worst things for my body. I decided to break and now am applying to grad schools or library and information scoence. My point is, don't give up! And if u love what u do who cares what anyone thinks! :)
ReplyDeletePS: I, clearly, love talking about myself lol
Thanks for the fun post! I'm pretty boring :) I only eat m&ms in even numbers and colors ;) thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI hate spiders. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI'm from Philippines, I love to travel and I love reading. :)
ReplyDeleteI am from Greece and also like reading and writing stories on wattpad! Thank you for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI always do road trips with my family once a year :D
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! And don't worry I didn't just skip ahead ahah I think it would be cool to work in a theatre for all the free movies though I don't know how good I'd be at bossing people around ;)
ReplyDeleteI have five dogs and two birds.
ReplyDeleteI am a hugeeee perfectionist ;) I like to travel, I've been to over 30 countries. I'm pretty adventurous, I'll try ANY food.
ReplyDeleteI have a weakness for mystery things. Like those card game packs as a kid. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWell, I will give you a warning on the dating age thing. My ex is almost ten years younger than me, and when he turned 40 he went looking for someone younger. Lol. The five years younger one should be okay. ;)
ReplyDeleteMy mom's an English teacher and my dad's a freelance writer. :)
ReplyDeleteI am a 32 year old book lover, who reads mostly YA and I am proud of it! I am happily married, hoping to have a baby, with three furry mutts that are very much my babies.
ReplyDeleteI'm 24 and I'm obsessed with YA lit and everything that has to do with that stage in life. I obviously don't live as a teenager, but I'm still very invested in that time period. I think it's a very challenging and growth filled time, so I volunteer my time with teens as a mentor as well as support and advocate for literacy in young teens.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this giveaway and I've loved getting to know a little more about you! :)
Wellllll. I love Hello Kitty, I collect sock monkeys, and I love tomatoes but hate pasta sauce.
ReplyDeleteI'm from Spain and I love everything about books! I'm so addicted to reading that my mum gets annoyed with me because every time I start a good book I don't stop until I finish it (I even read when I walk around the house to open the door or get something to eat haha). Thank you for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI have been a high school librarian for the past 15 years.
ReplyDeletei love books and cats..i have manu cats...i can't live without them :D
ReplyDeletethx u for hosting...
I am from Indonesia, and i like to read Novels. My favorite genre was Paranormal, Historical and steampunk.
ReplyDeleteI didn't skip to the end! I can relate to not having trouble sharing personal things. I actually share more personal things when blogging than talking to people in person. It's easier to relax from behind a computer screen.
ReplyDeleteI just applied for a job at a movie theater. I feel like college isn't going to be for me. I plan on going but I don't have my mind set yet. I really like photography! One fact about me is I just started driving. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWell…I
ReplyDeleteam obsessed with Japan (culture, music, movies, books…) and now I am learning
japanesse and I hope that someday I will have the chance to visit Japan. Thanks
for the giveaway! :)
I'm a mom of two very busy girls. one who just started driving (which is pretty scary and makes me feel old) and I am also a full time Property Manager and wife. So I stay very busy. But my true love is romance books. If I could quit work and stay home and read all day I would in a heart beat. I collect cobalt blue glass and love to watch pro-football. Other than that I'm pretty boring!
ReplyDeleteI think working in a theater would be one of the coolest jobs ever!
ReplyDeleteOther than reading, I love art/photography and do a lot of artsy/craftsy things. I also grow my own veggies. The biggest thing going on in my life right now is that I'm going to be a mother for the first time in just a couple of weeks. I can't wait to pass on a love of reading to my little one! :)
I have never read the Twilight Series. Probably won't ever. :)
ReplyDeleteim from Valparaiso Chile, i would like to be a movie critic
ReplyDeletethanks!
Cows are a little bit creepy...and they sure do stink!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, it's okay. It's honest. I usually skip through, too. But thank you. This is definitely the most unique giveaway hop and I love that.
ReplyDeleteI have reading glasses that I never wear. Ever consider contacts?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a perk I enjoy! I never used to see a lot of movies until I started working there!
ReplyDeleteThat's SO AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteAnd I am the opposite. I am nearly 6' and I wish I were shorter
ReplyDeleteHahaha and thank you!
ReplyDeleteOMG Hanson!! YES!! They were the first band I ever fell in love with. Totally remember that and I would have been so jealous of you back then for getting to see them live!!
ReplyDeleteThat's really awesome and incredibly thoughtful!
ReplyDeleteYES!!! Booknerd problems!
ReplyDeleteExactly. And you feel like, at the age we're at, we should have things set in stone and to not...well, it kind of makes me feel like a failure and it sucks.
ReplyDeleteI used to work at a movie theater. I enjoyed it very much. I also am very embarrassed to say I was a huge Hanson fan. I was also 13 and did the stupidest thing. I tattooed the name Zac on my hand for one of the band members. Now I'm 31 years old with a tattoo of a boy band members name on my hand. It's horrible. *hangs head in shame* Thanks for the giveaway. Happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteI used to like collecting magnets, too but I don't know what I did with them or why I stopped.
ReplyDeleteI hate spiders. Period. But yes, I'd be terrified of those spiders, too. And tornadoes. They're rare here but we've had a few. My older brother went through one (or rather, one went through his dorm years back).
ReplyDeleteWhat shade of blue or any shade? I used to say my favorite color was something but then, if you think about it, there are some really ughly shades of every color lol
ReplyDeleteYES! This is why I tend to steer away from contemporary. I like to escape into a world that isn't mine.
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice seeing I'm not alone because I really do feel alone. So many people I know went to college, completed it and have 'better' jobs... :-\
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty awesome - have you ever not been able to reach that goal?
ReplyDeleteYAY *N SYNC fans! And I think a lot of people struggle with it but yet, a lot of people I know have known for quite some time what they wanted to do. Makes me feel like a bit of a loner and all
ReplyDeleteLol I guess you're right. Some blues are really ugly. But my favorite is Royal blue.
ReplyDeleteTraveling would be amazing!
ReplyDeleteExactly. And all in the beginning of college (especially if you don't have a major) is generic classes. Nothing that interests me or anything I'll really need later on in life. It feels like a waste of my time and my money :-\
ReplyDeleteYES! All through school, you were taught you'd know what you wanted to do for the rest of your life by time college came around. It's a disappointment when that's not the case. You kind of feel like a failure.
ReplyDeleteyup!!! since childhood I have spent every summer holiday in some new state or city in India with family and now it has become like an addiction, if due to some problem I don't get to have a nice long vacation atleast once in a year exploring new cities and meeting new people then I become restless, not able to concentrate in studies or anything then I try to squeeze in a little weekend vacation to some place nearby with any willing friend. :)
ReplyDeleteAND, fun fact, they kill more people than sharks every year!
ReplyDeleteA fact about me is that I am obsessed with Inuyasha (its an anime they used to give on cartoonnetwork) I have the show, t-shirts, bags and pins of it. Yeah I'm really obsessed...
ReplyDeleteI am a mom of 5, I read constantly!
ReplyDeleteOne day I dream to have a mini library like Beauty and the Beast! I am such a book worm and I like to collect books! It's a hobby of mine. Thank you for this amazing giveaway! :)
ReplyDeleteI love horror movies.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite icecream flavor is peanut butter :P
ReplyDeleteI love found footage horror movies--my favorite is Grave Encounters :) Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI am kinda common book nerd...not sure if that is exciting or not! LOL thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI love Coldplay and I read obsessively. :D
ReplyDeleteI'm a twin! Thank you for the giveaway :D
ReplyDeleteI'm deathly afraid of snakes.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway!
I eat ice cream in the winter and actually enjoy math.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to meet another Hanson fan! I have to confess I wasn't crazy about them in their early days, but I took my sister to one of their concerts about 2 years ago and was blown away. If you get a chance to see them live now, I would highly recommend it. Puberty has been good to them and their voices. :-P
ReplyDeleteThe last time I saw them was in 2003 and they had all hit puberty by then :P But yeah, I've been wanting to see them again but sadly, I don't know many Hanson fans near me. One day, I'll go because it's been way too long. Their voices have matured but so has their music but yeah, I was a fan of them before puberty, too lol
ReplyDeleteThere is NOTHING wrong with eating ice cream in the winter. I do it all the time. I actually crave it more when it's cold outside than in the summer
ReplyDelete
