Danielle Ellison here with another blog takeover! To celebrate the release of my book Follow Me Through Darkness, which comes in out in just 14 days, I am taking over fantastic book blogs twice a week to sharing stories and goodies! Thanks to Jessica and the girls at Step Into Fiction for giving me their blog for this very, very happy moment. For today’s takeover, I get to reveal the two fantastic author blurbs that will grace the cover of Follow Me Through Darkness.
Before I jump into the blurbs, I’m going to share a story. (Or if you want to skip the story, you can just scroll down and look for the really big letters.)
When I started planning NoVa TEEN Book Festival 2014 I had the immense pleasure of meeting Kristen Simmons, author of Article 5 series, at the event. I’d read the book years before, when it was released, and I’d really enjoyed her writing and the stakes in the novel. Meeting Kristen made me like her even more! Kristen was (and is) one of the nicest people I’ve ever met, someone made of happiness—she was literally always smiling. Her new novel The Glass Arrow sounds completely amazing, too, and I can’t wait to get my grubby hands on it. So when my publicist and I were compiling names of authors to approach, Kristen was at the top of the list. And lucky for me, she read it and had this to say about Follow Me Through Darkness:
“A tense, thrilling journey through a richly layered world. The start of what is sure to be a fascinating trilogy." ~ Kristen Simmons, Article 5 series
(I’m smiling!)
Back in 2012, when I sold the book, I started dreaming of book covers. I really wanted a cover that made the reader feel something when they saw it. One day while browsing blogs online, I saw the cover for the The Shadow Society by Marie Rutkoski, and I emailed it to my editor saying, “That’s my book cover! That’s what I want!” Later, Marie came to town back then for the Fierce Reads tour, I told her that I had cover envy. She told me she was sure I’d get one I loved. (She was right!) As my cover designer started working on the cover, I gave her The Shadow Society as one of my comp covers. Unbeknownst to me, I’d later read The Winner’s Curse by Marie and fall completely and totally for that book. (If you haven’t read it then you should.) By some long-shot chance, I begged my publicist to ask Marie for a blurb, sure she’d never be able to do it—but to my delight she was!
“A heart-stopping adventure with characters you will follow anywhere." ~ Marie Rutkoski, The Winner’s Curse
I’m so honored to have these blurbs on my cover! These two women are amazingly talented, extremely genuine, and their love and support of Follow Me Through Darkness (and me!) means the world. More than the world, but I don’t know how to express it. Each time I read those blurbs I fangirl over them even more!
To celebrate their blurbs, I’m giving away a signed copy of their books: Article 5 by Kristen Simmons & The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski.

About the Book:
The truth won't always set you free.
Less than a year ago, Neely Ambrose’s biggest worry was having the freedom to follow a path that wasn't chosen for her.
Less than a year ago, she believed she could trust the Elders who said they had everyone’s best interest at heart and who said they were keeping them safe from the outside.
Sixty days ago, she discovered what they had planned for everyone she loved—and that all of it centered around her.
Now she’s on the run through a dangerous wasteland full of killing machines, secret organizations, and people who want to sell her back to the Elders for their own safety. The whole world outside the Compound is living proof that everything in Neely’s life was a lie manufactured by the Elders, which may even include the boy she loves.
All Neely wants is the truth, but each new piece of it drives her further from what she thought she knew. With only forty days until everyone she loves falls under the Elders’ mind control, Neely must decipher who to trust, what questions to ask, and how to get one step ahead of the Elders, who will do anything to keep their secrets buried.
About the Author:
Danielle Ellison spent of her childhood reading instead of learning math. It's probably the reason she can't divide without a calculator and has spent her life seeking the next adventure. It's also probably the reason she's had so many different zip codes and jobs.
When she’s not writing, Danielle is usually drinking coffee, fighting her nomadic urges, watching too much TV, or dreaming of the day when she can be British. Danielle is also the author of SALT and STORM, a series about a snarky witch without magic. She has settled in Northern Virginia, for now, but you can always find her on twitter @DanielleEWrites.
