Dylan fights for lost causes. Probably because she used to be one.If you have NOT read All Lined Up please read with caution. There are some spoilers that were unavoidable. Proceed with caution . . .
Environmental issues, civil rights, corrupt corporations, and politicians you name it, she's probably been involved in a protest. When her latest cause lands her in jail overnight, she meets Silas Moore. He's in for a different kind of fighting. And though he's arrogant and infuriating, she can't help being fascinated with him. Yet another lost cause.
Football and trouble are the only things that have ever come naturally to Silas. And it's trouble that lands him in a cell next to do-gooder Dylan. He's met girls like her before fixers, he calls them, desperate to heal the damage and make him into their ideal boyfriend. But he doesn't think he's broken, and he definitely doesn't need a girlfriend trying to change him. Until, that is, his anger issues and rash decisions threaten the only thing he really cares about: his spot on the Rusk University football team. Dylan might just be the perfect girl to help.
Because Silas Moore needs some fixing after all.
I love football. I love books. I have a new obsession of New Adult. So this is why this series is perfection for me. It has everything I love. Oh wait, I forgot to mention super hot guys. It definitely has plenty of that. And plenty of kissing, which is basically a must for me (very few exceptions to that rule) and some pretty awesome female characters.
Silas, we all hated him in the first book, right? I was wondering how she can take a character we all hated and turn him around in the next book to someone we could like, possibly even love. And dammit, if she doesn't do just that. He's one you view differently knowing his background, his history and where he plans to take himself. But what makes him most vulnerable are his fears. Those fears are things that could eat you up inside if you let them. The question is, does he let them or does he face them head on? Who knows . . . maybe it's a little bit of both?
I love love LOVE where Dylan meets Silas for the first time. What I love more is her friend who is there with him. OMG, I adore Matt. He was a hoot and had me rolling from laughter so many times. He is one of the characters I'm so glad were introduced and I sure hope we see more of him in future books! Dylan is the opposite of Silas or at least, she appears to be. She's from a rich family, her ex-boyfriend is a pansy, she had her whole life planned and was leading a rather boring, expected life and she's a do-gooder (which isn't a bad thing). You know how they say opposites attract? Sometimes, they really do. Sometimes, they things they don't have in common cause too much trouble or work for a couple and it doesn't work out but sometimes, it's the right combination. I believe these two are the perfect mix. Because, even though they're pretty opposite they have a lot more in common than meets the eye.
The steamy, sexy scenes in this book . . . woah . . . *fans self* Prepare yourself, they are HOT. Cora wasn't kidding when she said this was her steamiest book; I believe it may be! It's also full of violence but it's not overkill; Silas has a lot of anger issues and he thinks with his fists first (a lot). Tons of humor, especially if Torres is around. Oh man, he is a hoot, as well, especially when drunk.
The book ends on such a rough note and I haven't looked at the next book BUT I really hope it's Stella's because I need it to be. You'll read this book and you'll understand why - hell, I'm sure you're right there with me.
Thank you SO MUCH to Harper Collins/William Morrow for allowing me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
