Nadia Conrad has big dreams, and she's determined to make them come true—for her parents' sake as well as her own. But between maintaining her college scholarship and working at the local day care to support herself, she barely has time to think, let alone date. Then she moves into a new apartment and meets the taciturn yet irresistible guy in 1B….Let's get this out of the way, shall we? How many of us saw the titles of these books and started singing Backstreet Boys? How many of us are actually reading these books because of the title (shame on you)? How many of us are actually Backstreet Boys fans? First question: I did and I still do. Second question: absolutely not. I'm a huge fan of Ann's and while I have yet to read any of her adult books, I've loved her YA stuff and I'm working on getting to her other adult books. Third question: not me. I'm a *N SYNC girl through and through but I have come to appreciate BSB in the early years now that I'm older. Plus, they bring back my childhood so what's not to love. I am here to tell you these books have nothing to do with the group but still, feel free to continue singing.
Daniel Tyler has grown up too fast. Becoming a single dad at twenty turned his life upside down—and brought him heartache he can't risk again. Now, as he raises his four-year-old son while balancing a full-time construction management job and night classes, a social life is out of the question. The last thing he wants is for four noisy students to move into the apartment upstairs. But one night, Nadia's and Ty's paths cross, and soon they can't stay away from each other.
The timing is all wrong—but love happens when it happens. And you can't know what you truly need until you stand to lose it.
This book was so much fun; I'm not even kidding. All of the characters were entertaining, especially all of those who reside in apartment 2B (get why the trilogy is now named 2B?). Max is my favorite, hands down. I'm normally not attracted to someone like him but his personality totally outshines his conquests. I have to say I enjoy his friendship with Nadia the most. I know she's best friends with Lauren but the interactions between Max and Nadia are just perfect on every level. People say guys and girls can't really be friends without wanting something more? These two just prove that's not the case. Though, I guess it's not always been the case but seriously, love love love these two.
Speaking of Nadia, she's all sorts of awesome and she's, pardon my language, fucking kinky. Like, really kinky. That's not what makes her awesome, I just realized how that sounded. I'm far from what she is but it just cracked me up how out there she really is. She admitted something from her days in a dorm and I think my jaw hit the floor. It was kind of disturbing but hilarious? No doubt there are many people out there (girl or guy) just like her and hey, whatever works for you, right? Nadia comes from a good family but one whose always struggled to make ends meet but it doesn't change the fact that she's the first in her family to go to college and that puts a lot of pressure on ones shoulder. She's serious about her future and I admire the fact that she wants to teach but not only teach, teach special needs classes.
Ty, what is there to say about Ty besides the fact that I never understand why gingers get so much flack. I find gingers quite attractive but yet they get made fun of all the time. Y'all are just jealous; that's what it is. He's a little bit older than Nadia and her roommates but only by a few years. He's got a roommate whose favorite meal becomes hot dog casserole and can't go to sleep without his stuffed teddy bear. Oh yes, we're talking about his adorable four year old son, Sam, who I just want to hug. This guy is the type of man I'd want to have as the father of my son. Seriously, he's just perfection.
I've been reading a lot of New Adult lately, as that's really the only contemporary I can stand, and I just feel like it doesn't follow the same pattern most books follow. Sure, there was a part in the middle of the book where I felt like it both dragged a little and I was confused with what would happen for the remainder of the book but it was minimal. I got over it and it obviously didn't effect my overall rating or feels of this book.
I normally don't post my reviews more than a month in advance but I couldn't wait any longer to read this book and I've never posted an 'early review' before so why not try this book out first? Plus, I'm including a giveaway for all you who are interested. Thank you so much to Ann Aguirre for selecting me to receive a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. You have no idea how excited I was to hear I was chosen.
So, normally I would give away my ARC to one lucky reader but I can't. This book was given to me by the author, to read and review (honestly) but she personalized it to me. I also am a huge fan of Ann's so I can't get myself to part with this. What I'm going to offer, instead, is a pre-order of the final copy of I Want It That Way (released August 26). If you live outside of the US and book depository will ship for free to your place of residence, consider yourself eligible. If you live within the US, it'll be coming from either Amazon or Barnes and Noble. If you want it personalized (US residents, only), this can be arranged as I'll be seeing her in September. The choice is yours, if you're the winner. This giveaway ends Sunday, July 27 at 11:59 PM EST. Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor! ;)

I'm *dying* for this book :) Thanks for the awesome review and giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI just got approved for this one and As Long As You Love Me via NetGalley and even though I'm not the biggest fan of contemporary or NA, I'm sure Ann Aguirre is gonna make it worth my reading time!
ReplyDeleteI was more of a Take That fan, but I also enjoyed some BSB in my teen years, so yeah, eeeevery time I see the titles for the books I end up singing along either in my head or out loud!!
You're welcome! Best of luck! :D
ReplyDeleteI know, right? You can't even say the title...or at least, I can't. I find myself singing it...and that could just be embarrassing in public LOL
ReplyDeleteYes, I just got approved for As Long As You Love Me there and I may have happy danced around my room. The only contemporary (besides Katie McGarry) that I really enjoy happens to be NA lol. I mean, after reading a few, they start to sound the same with slightly different situations which is why I have to read other stuff in between but I feel like this book was definitely a different feel from most NA.
ReplyDeleteI definitely sing. Especially the titles. Which could become embarrassing quite fast.
