We weren't a relationship, we were a ticking time bomb...I was surprised with how much I enjoyed the first book so with how it ended, I was eager for this next book but I was afraid it was going to be a book with basically a bunch of boning and that would get old pretty fast. I definitely think this book is definitely more adult than the first book but it's not what I expected. I came away in love with this book when it ended. I had a huge smile on my face but I'm also left with things unanswered but not where Maggie and Samir are concerned. My unanswered questions are actually with Fleur and honestly, I'm not sure if there will be more books or if this is just a duology but I really hope not because there's so many things left unsaid and I need conclusion there.
Maggie Carpenter walked away from the hottest encounter of her life when she left the seductive glitz of England for summer break in her South Carolina hometown. Now that she’s returned to the International School in London—and sexy, privileged Samir Khouri is once again close enough to touch—she can’t help but remember the attraction, the drama … the heartbreak.
She can’t help but want him even more.
Samir can’t afford to fall for someone so far removed from his world, not when his time in London is running out. It's his senior year—his last chance at freedom before he returns home to Lebanon. There, he’ll be expected to follow in his father’s footsteps—not follow his heart to Maggie. But when a scorching secret hookup becomes a temptation neither can resist, they’ll both have to fight to survive the consequences … and find a future together.
Don’t miss this explosive sequel to I See London, and the riveting conclusion to Maggie and Samir’s story. This is a New Adult romance recommended for readers 17 and up.
But that's not what's important here; what's important is Samir and Maggie. We all drooled over Samir in the first book, didn't we? He was one of those guys that just seem they're only there for a good time and that's it. Do 'em and leave 'em type style, right? So when we started seeing more of a different side of him we were scratching our heads, were we not? But he comes from a completely different place from what I'm used to. I get that other countries are so different from what us in America deal with on a day-to-day basis so it was super interesting reading this. I imagine she did some research in to this book but, personally, I'm not sure how accurate it is though I do know there are many places where arranged marriages are still a normal thing. That's a big struggle in this book because as soon as Samir graduates, he's expected to get married to a girl his family has already selected for him and to start with the family politics, no questions asked. This is his legacy and there is no say in the matter. No freedom to choose who you want to be or who you want to be with.
This book was so much more than I was expecting. The friendships were strained, the romance relationship was strained and family relationships were strained. It was nice seeing more inside Maggie and Samir's family lives and the struggles they both suffer. I felt more sadness for Maggie and her situation though I guess that hollowness was there for both of them. We all knew at the end of the first book that once their story led them where it led them, that they were both doomed. There could be no such thing as friends for them from here on out. Actually, I think the whole 'friend' thing had been thrown out the window quite sometime ago but it's okay if we just continue pretending. I won't tell anyone.
It's one of those stories where two world's that as different from each other as night and day collide and once this occures, it's like this magnetic pull between the two. The one needs the other and vis versa but how does it work? How can two people so opposite (not in personalities but in lifestyles) come together to be happy, forever?
Just everything about this book was perfect but I really, really hope it's not over because, like I've said, I have so many things I want to see Fleur do and some unanswered questions revolving her. If it's only a duology now, I hope the author considers a spin-off or something with Fleur. It's common thing with NA anyway, having different books revolving around different characters of the same world.
Thank you so much to InkSlinger for allowing me to be a part of this tour and thank you to Harlequin for allowing me the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Author Information
Originally a Florida girl, at seventeen Chanel moved to London to attend an international university. In the four years that followed, she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, learned how to dance, travelled through Europe, and made lifelong friendships. Chanel fell in love with London and planned to stay there forever. But fate intervened on a Caribbean cruise, when an American fighter pilot with smooth dance moves, swept her off her feet.
Now, a happily ever after later, Chanel is living her next adventure in South Korea. An avid reader and hopeless romantic, she is happiest curled up with a book. She has a weakness for handbags, puppy cuddles, and her fighter pilot husband.
She is the author of I SEE LONDON and LONDON FALLING, published by Harlequin HQN, and FLIRTING WITH SCANDAL, the first book in a new NA series to be released by Berkley in 2015.
