Liam Westbury has the world at his feet. He’s the quintessential golden boy. He’s the superstar quarterback for Beaumont High. His girl, Josie, is head cheerleader. He has his choice of colleges just waiting for him. Except he’s suffocating from all the pressure he’s under and no one understands.I was very interested to see how things changed for Liam, especially since I loved Forever My Girl so freaking much. I'm a little disappointed in this book mainly because it's very repetitive. His thoughts repeat themselves a lot and really, to the point of like okay, we get it, you know? But if you can push that aside, it's really a fascinating book. To see how Liam was like in high school, see the pressure he faced because of the town and because of his father, see his relationship grow with Josie and then to watch it all fall apart. But my favorite part of this book is him meeting and becoming friends with Harrison. That is a friendship I have loved since Harrison was introduced so seeing it from the beginning was something I've always wanted to see.
Liam Page is the heartthrob he never wanted to be. He’s successful, smart and in demand by record companies and his adoring fans. Music is his passion, his love, but something’s missing. His nights are lonely and he longs for the girl he left behind. Seeing her in every face in the crowd haunts him with the knowledge that she hates him. Going home has never been an option until now.
Be there when Liam Westbury becomes Liam Page and follow the highs and lows of the Quarterback turned Rockstar as he finds a way back to Beaumont in this prequel to Forever My Girl.
If you haven't read Forever My Girl, I kind of feel like you should start with this book and then read the first three books. This is technically a prequel story so it makes sense. I kind of wish I had read this before Forever My Girl because . . . well, I know where it's heading and it just loses some of the excitement of the unknown. Whereas, if you haven't read the first book, you have no idea what's going to come of this and I bet it'll be a completely different reading experience for you.
While I really loved seeing the growth of Josie and Liam's relationship, I wish I would've seen more of his and Mason friendship. What we saw, Mason was always all over Katelyn (which I'm totally okay with) but it just would've been nice to see more of it. These two are like brothers and from the beginning it's been a friendship that I've been extremely fond of. What we did see of their friendship is probably what made me crave to see more.
This book was heartbreaking, even knowing the future of all of these characters. One thing it did was make me view Sam completely different. When we first meet her, she actually appears to be . . . dare I say it? Normal. She put a lot of work into 4225 West and really, they do owe her a lot but then things just fell apart and they fell apart bad.
*highlight to view spoiler* Though we knew the break up of Josie and Liam was coming, it was still heartbreaking. His future could've been so different had just called her back and even though we knew he wasn't, I kept wishing he would. But what blew my mind the most and made me love Liam even more, is that even after a decade of his life in the music business and away from everyone in Beaumont, he never once stopped loving Josie. He never once stopped thinking about her and hoping she had moved on and was doing well. To still love a person that fiercely after so many years and so many obstacles, well, it makes Liam a much person than he ever gave himself credit for. *end spoiler*
While I can't say I loved this book as dearly as I have the previous books, it's definitely worth the read and a fantastic look in to Liam's past.
