(Article 5, #2)
Release Date: February 12, 2013
Publisher: Tor Teen; 400 pages
After faking their deaths to escape from prison, Ember Miller and Chase Jennings have only one goal: to lay low until the Federal Bureau of Reformation forgets they ever existed. If you have NOT read Article 5, please read with caution. There are some spoilers that were unavoidable. Proceed with caution . . .
Near-celebrities now for the increasingly sensationalized tales of their struggles with the government, Ember and Chase are recognized and taken in by the Resistance—an underground organization working to systematically take down the government. At headquarters, all eyes are on the sniper, an anonymous assassin taking out FBR soldiers one by one. Rumors are flying about the sniper’s true identity, and Ember and Chase welcome the diversion….
Until the government posts its most-wanted list, and their number one suspect is Ember herself.
Orders are shoot to kill, and soldiers are cleared to fire on suspicion alone. Suddenly Ember can’t even step onto the street without fear of being recognized, and “laying low” is a joke. Even members of the Resistance are starting to look at her sideways.
With Chase urging her to run, Ember must decide: Go into hiding…or fight back?
I do believe this was the longest it's ever taken me to finish reading a book; it's not a terribly bad thing but I struggle a lot with the first half of the book. It just didn't have a lot in it that grabbed my attention and if there was anything that did, it didn't hold it. But there is good news here . . . you ready for it? It got better. It got much better.
I loved Chase and Ember's journey to freedom in Article 5 but you know what I loved more in Article 5? Chase and Ember's journey back to each other. It never fully came full circle in that book and it's a work in progress in Breaking Point but it's a beautiful journey. Two people who were boyfriend and girlfriend before their worlds were ripped upside down.
One person I never wished I would've seen again in any of these books unless they were dead comes in to play. After finishing the book I still don't know how I feel about them. I have the same confused feelings that Ember has and I just don't know how to feel. I can't wait to read Three to find out the results in this.
One of my favorite characters, hands down, is Sean and omg, do I love him even more after this book. There was a scene that he just stole my heart and held it in a death grip. I'm done, seriously, he's completely won me over. Now, please tell me there are guys just like him out there and if so, please direct me where to find one of my own. Much appreciated.
The world becomes more dangerous the deeper these characters get and when you think they may have caught a break, something blows up in their faces. I swear, they can't seem to catch their breath and it breaks my heart.
I am so excited for Three because I just know it's going to be epic. There's so much to come and there's so much that will need to crumble for them to rise again and I am chomping at the bits to see it happen!
