Three by Kristen Simmons
(Article 5, #3)
Release Date: February 11, 2014
Publisher: Tor Teen; 384 pages
Ember Miller and Chase Jennings are ready to stop running. After weeks spent in hiding as two of the Bureau of Reformation’s most wanted criminals, they have finally arrived at the safe house, where they hope to live a safe and quiet existence.
And all that’s left is smoking ruins.
Devastated by the demolition of their last hope, Ember and Chase follow the only thing left to them—tracks leading away from the wreckage. The only sign that there may have been survivors.
With their high profile, they know they can’t stay out in the open for long. They take shelter in the wilderness and amidst the ruins of abandoned cities as they follow the tracks down the coast, eventually finding refugees from the destroyed safe house. Among them is someone from Chase’s past—someone he never thought he’d see again.
Banding together, they search for a place to hide, aiming for a settlement a few of them have heard about…a settlement that is rumored to house the nebulous organization known as Three. The very group that has provided Ember with a tiny ray of hope ever since she was first forced on the run.
Three is responsible for the huge network of underground safe houses and resistance groups across the country. And they may offer Ember her only chance at telling the world her story.
At fighting back.

If you have NOT read Article 5 & Breaking Point, please read with caution. There are some spoilers that were unavoidable. Proceed with caution . . .
All good things must come to an end. It's some of the worst words any series fan could ever possibly hear. If we had it our way, series we love would never end but alas, we can't always get what we want, right? The Article 5 trilogy is no different. I fell in love with these characters, with this story and this world that Kristen Simmons has created and now, it's all over. She has taken my heart, ripped it out of my chest, stomped on it a few times and then thrown it in the ocean for good measure. While I am mostly satisfied with the ending of this trilogy there were a few things (one in particular) that I didn't agree with. However, I'm just the reader and I have no control on the outcomes or fates of certain characters.
Sean still remains the owner of this beaten and bruised heart though certainly not fully the cause of all the pain. He's not only a great friend to Chase and Ember but he is forever loyal to Rebecca, the one person who owns his entire being, body and soul. He's the type of guy I think every girl envisions for herself and those few who are lucky to find guys like him, the rest of us are super jealous.
I wasn't sure I'd ever warm up to Jesse because, let's face it, he's a very cold human being. He treated his own nephew like hell and can't even call Ember by her first name. He's got no issues with torturing and just seems to emotionless man. However, a miracle has happened because you know what? I really liked Jesse by the end - like I have mad respect for him and the journey that has been his life.
Tucker. I have no words.
Chase and Ember's relationship grows so much from Breaking Point until the end. They grow as people but the love and respect they have for each other really comes to light in this book. They finally let their fears go and just love each other as if they may not have another day to share together. I really love their growth in this entire trilogy but I loved it most in this book. Their relationship truly is beautiful and it puts a smile on my face just thinking about.
These books have been gearing up for a huge battle of the rebellion, also known as Three, versus the dreaded government (FBR) and we are not let down. In fact, we may cringe and cry and just leave all our emotions in the open during a few scenes toward the end. It's everything it was built up to be and more and while it shattered my poor emotions, it was what needed to be done. If the reader isn't emotional reading scenes like this, the the author didn't do what was needed with building the characters. This is certainly not the case.
