This giveaway is hosted by I Am A Reader, Not A Writer. It's the beginning of a new year and what better to start off fresh than get rid of some books that are just collecting dust on my bookshelf? What I have for one lucky winner is a mystery box of 20+ books (I think there's 27 but I can't remember). Most of the are Young Adult with maybe a few Middle Grade books thrown into the mix. It's a mix of ARCs and finished copies.
This is only open to US residents (mainly because of the cost to send something like this internationally will be out of this world expensive). The winner will have 48 hours to respond to their email before we choose another winner. Good luck and contest ends at 11:59 PM EST on January 10, 2014.
a Rafflecopter giveaway
Most of my books are ebooks but i have recently went through the paperbacks i had and got rid of a bunch
ReplyDeleteI probably need to do that but I usually don't! I buy books that I really love and then I just reread them over and over again! :)
ReplyDeleteAt least twice a year. If I don't do it more, I literally end up with books all over in stacks on,by floor and it becomes a mess. Even tho I just got a new bookshelf, I still don't have extra room! Giveaways help a lot too, I love giving away mystery boxes lol. Doing one now if you wanna stop by and enter!
ReplyDeleteDiamond @ Dee's reads - My Giveaway Stop
most often it's twice a year. books accumulate on my shelves and i donate some of them or give them as gifts.
ReplyDeleteNever! I am an English/language arts teacher by training (and just received my teaching license - yay!), so all my books will eventually go toward stocking my classroom library. :)
ReplyDeleteI go through my pile every few months or so
ReplyDeleteI don't I can't seem to let go of books
ReplyDeleteOnce a month.
ReplyDeleteI either put them up YABookExchange.com or Paperbackswap.com
I have only done it one time, that was when I finished middle school. I can't bare to part with any of them.
ReplyDeleteI try to do it every few months.
ReplyDeleteOnly did it once, which was when I finished college 2 years ago. I am still filling my shelf up.
ReplyDeleteIt is almost impossible for me to throw books out or donate them. I go through my shelf a lot but, I'm a bit of a book hoarder haha!
ReplyDeleteBrittany
I give away most of my books as I finish them, only saving my very favorites. And those favorites, I never give away!
ReplyDeleteWhen I read a book and know I won't read it again I give it to a friend or I donate it. That way I only keep the books that I read again and again and that I love! :)
ReplyDeleteProbably every month--but I sometimes forget to do it now and then.
ReplyDeleteI cull my shelves about once a year. If I have the time I have friends over who also do the same and we swap books and then donate the leftovers.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to cleaning out my bookshelf... it depends on my mood or my situation. For example: I had to get rid of some of my books before I moved back home, after graduating college, cause there were just too many and I already read a good chunk of them anyways. Recently, though, I did give some of them to a good friend of mine for Christmas cause I knew she'd love them as much as I did. c: So... yeah!
ReplyDeleteI go through them at least once every 2 weeks to a month. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteNot very often... But I have been trying to go through and get rid of some books!
ReplyDeleteI only did that once. I donated a giant box of books to a book thrift shop when I moved out of my mom's house a few years back
ReplyDeleteI used to hang onto them for too long, but moving every 1 1/2 years or so has made me purge more frequently ;)
ReplyDeleteProbably like once per year.
ReplyDeleteI have only 3 shelves of books and would not like to part with any at this time
ReplyDeleteI used to go through them about twice a year but now as I read them I get rid of them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the awesome giveaway!
Pretty often. I'm always buying books, so I have to make space for them! It's either that or buy more bookshelves. ;)
ReplyDeleteI go through my books a time or two during the year, but I find it SO hard to let them go... instead, I just buy more bookshelves :)
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to say if I would re-read them, would have to depend on the book
ReplyDeleteI do it probably once a month when I go to 2nd & Charles. But I always come home with 20 new books. I have a habit of picking up books and then getting home and going "why did i get that?" Thank you for the giveaway! Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteBuy more bookshelves ;)
ReplyDeleteI followed the link from Twitter hoping this was a way for me to get rid of some of my books! I don't need 27 more. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm terrible and hardly go through my bookshelves:( I really need to though!! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI try to pass them on as I get ones I don't read or as I finish them.
ReplyDeleteI go through my books every 6-8 weeks. I give them to a cousin who reads them and then she donates them to the library.
ReplyDeleteNot as often as my boyfriend likes..maybe once a year or so
ReplyDeleteI go through my book pile every few months or so
ReplyDeleteNot nearly often enough. Every couple of years maybe. It's definitely been awhile. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteNot often enough.
ReplyDeleteFirst-I totally love your blog page!! The logo and everything is soooo pretty! I'm still trying to figure mine out with clipart, but don't have the cool pics you have to choose from!! I am horrible about cleaning books. I'm not a hoarder by nature. On the contrary, my family freaks out whenever I spring clean-about once a month. But, books are sacred to me! So, when I can participate in blog hops, that is my time to clean out my shelf ;)
ReplyDeleteI didn't even have a bookshelf or any books until recently. So I haven't cleared it out yet. Although I did send a girl a book that I had 2 copies of. Thank you so much. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI don't go through my bookshelves nearly as much as I should. I think the last time was a year ago! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI am a certified book hoarder...I should go through my books my husband would appreciate it but they're like my babies & hard to part with .
ReplyDeleteI go through my shelves at the end of the year.
ReplyDeleteOohh, that's a good question... Before a few months ago, I almost NEVER cleaned my shelves out. But since blogging, I've been getting so many books! I definitely need to do a clean-out soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks for an awesome giveaway!
I did it a couple of times this year because I had to move my book shelves, but usually once a year. The previous year I had a ton of library books and this year I've made the move to digital so it hasn't been so much the issue it once was.
ReplyDeleteNow the books on my shelves are pretty much all keepers!
Maybe once a year. I have so many books that I just can't part with.
ReplyDeleteI do it twice a year and I donate them to the local library!
ReplyDeleteBetween Goodwill and Bookmooch I purge my books on a pretty consistent basis!
ReplyDeleteEvery once in a while i have a huge stack of books I won't ever read again.
ReplyDeleteIts been so long since I have made time to read that I have no books in my bookshelves. That is why, now that I have time to read, that I am entering these giveaways.
ReplyDeleteMost of the time, I'll go over my bookshelves about once in a few months and gather a bunch of books to either to loan or giveaway to my friends.
ReplyDeleteI donate once a year. I have so many books that I can't bear to part with!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever done that. My shelf is full, but I don't really get rid of books...My goal is to one day have a library.
ReplyDeletenot very often but one of my 2014 goals is to read or wean! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteI use Paperbackswap for books that I don't want to keep.
ReplyDeleteUm....never? Thank goodness I do more ebooks than paperbooks although I'm back to paperbooks now.
ReplyDeleteNot very often! Maybe once every two years.
ReplyDelete2 times a year.
ReplyDeleteI have never cleared my bookshelf off but I probably should.
ReplyDeleteWhenever I get tired of the piles.
ReplyDelete- Shae
I probably clear just one book from my shelf a couple of years ago I should probably start to clear it off soon from books that I just didin't get into thanks for the great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI almost never clear out my book shelf. I have a huge collection I will probably never part with.
ReplyDeleteI hardly ever get rid of my books. I am such a hoarder lol.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
Becky
I haven't gotten rid of books is a long time! Thank you so much for this wonderful giveaway! :)
ReplyDeleteI go through my shelves and give away books about 5 to 6 times a year except for those I fave committed to read/review.
ReplyDeleteWhen I move, I always have to go through my books, but I normally find that most of those I have, I want to keep. This is because if I read a book I dislike so much I'll never, ever want to give it a second chance, I give it away almost immediately. There are few such books, but those that are that bad need to go, since I cherish my books and need all the space I can get.
ReplyDeleteI go through my books and give some away every year!
ReplyDeleteWell...I really should sometime, but I never really have. I've got a whole TON of books though :)
ReplyDeleteI do that maybe twice a year. I barely started building up my book collections a few years ago. A lot of them I'm still trying to finish.
ReplyDeleteWell, I just did it before moving cross-country and again when I got here and realized my local bookstore has an awesome trade-in policy. Otherwise, I do it a couple times a year.
ReplyDeleteNot too often. I only get rid
ReplyDeleteof a book if I really didn't like it. I love my collection of books.
I don't think I've ever pared down my shelves (not since I was a kid). The few times I've moved, everything went with me. This is not to say that I *shouldn't*, just that I *haven't*. Man, oh, man -- I really should!
ReplyDeleteI do it a couple of times a year.
ReplyDeleteNot as often as I should. Once or twice a year.
ReplyDeleteTwice a year the library where I work has a large book sale for books that have been 'weeded' from the collection or donated by patrons. I usually take this opportunity to 'weed' my home bookshelves. I like knowing that the books I donate find a new home and don't end up being shredded.
ReplyDeleteUsually about 3 times a year and donate them to the library.
ReplyDeleteAlmost constantly...if I don't love a book or series, I usually try to find it a good home...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the amazing giveaway!
elizabeth @ bookattict . com
Normally the wife and I will do a good shelf-cleaning twice a year though we do sometimes trade in books faster depending on if we like them or not.
ReplyDeleteNot nearly as often as the Hubby thinks I should. I try every couple of months. It's been a little easier with the smart phones and electronic readers as I am able to get digital copies of some items.
ReplyDeleteUsually just when it comes to my mind. It tends to happen when I don't have any books on my bookshelves that I haven't read.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
Only when I need more space.
ReplyDeleteI usually go through my books every other month or so. I'll list them on YA Book Exchange, sell them at Half-Price or do giveaways =)
ReplyDeletenever (: I like to see how many books I have. I love my growing collection
ReplyDeleteIt can take me awhile before I get rid of anything. I'm a pack rat.
ReplyDeleteI normaly trade my books in to get new ones!! thanks!
ReplyDeleteI go through them a couple times a year or if I need more room.
ReplyDeleteNot as often as I should:) When space is an issue! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI do that when I start to run short on spending money.......
ReplyDeleteUsually, I'll go through my books quarterly. When I do weed through my books, the ones that get the boot are usually newer books that didn't pan out quite right.
ReplyDeleteI pretty much never get rid of books. This leads to me constantly acquiring more shelves.
ReplyDeleteIt takes me a while to get rid of anything...especially books :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to win!
I don't do it very often. However, I did go through them all and get rid of some last year.
ReplyDeleteNever. I either get rid of the book after reading it or I am going to read it - this includes some children's books too because I will read it one last time to one of my children before passing it onto a friend with a younger child.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway. I go through my shelves about every 4 months but I always hold onto way more than I should. :)
ReplyDeleteI can't let go of books once they've hit my shelves proper, which I realize is ridiculous. If I plan to give them away, the book never makes it to a bookshelf.
ReplyDeleteHa! It's usually an option (I have 5) but I honestly don't know where I'd put another shelf. :P
ReplyDeleteUsually once a year, when I spring clean.
ReplyDeleteAt least once a year - more often if I'm adding a lot! Thanks for this amazing giveaway - I would love to win!
ReplyDeletetwo or three times a year.
ReplyDeleteI do through them like twice a year. I donate the ones I don't read to the library. Thanks for this great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteonce a year
ReplyDeleteI did it last year when I had to move cross-country.
ReplyDeleteAbout once a year
ReplyDeleteNot as often as I should :/ Usually only when there's a bookdrive or some other charity specifically requesting them.
ReplyDeleteUmm... Never lol
ReplyDeleteWell, kind of a long story, so to shorten it: I'm just now beginning to restock my bookshelf. And my Nook...impossible. lol!!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately....NEVER!! I never seem to be willing to give up and just admit to myself that I'm just NOT going to read that book I got in 2002 and have carted around in at least two moves since then! However, I did recently tell my husband that I just HAVE to do it soon, since I've got hundreds of books, many of them are in boxes (or stacked precariously high next to my bed) because clearly I don't have room for all of them on shelves, and to top it off my reading tastes have changed so much starting about 2 years ago that at least 90% of them really are ones I won't read any time soon. Now I've just gotta follow through on that promise (yikes)....
ReplyDeleteNever. I have tried a few times, but I always end up just putting books back on my shelf. I am terrible at parting with them. They are like "my Precious!"
ReplyDeleteI try to go through them once or twice a year.
ReplyDeleteI do! All the time :) Around every 4-6 months I get rid of (give away or sell to my local bookstore) around 50 books so I can keep my shelf full of only my favorites and re-readers :) I know some people have a had time doing this... but I do it really easily! lol I guess theres something wrong with my abilities to be sentimental!
ReplyDeleteI rarely go through my books to give them away. I do plan to start going through my books in the future, though!
ReplyDeleteI don't go through my bookshelves as often as I should in truth. I really need to make it a monthly thing I do. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteDuring this giveaway haha :)
ReplyDeleteEvery book as soon as I read it, is passed on. As I tend to collect a series before reading it, if I start it and am not blown away, I pull the whole series to give away unless I'm pretty positive that I'll change my mind
ReplyDeleteI go through it every year. Share them with friends and keep the great ones!
ReplyDeleteI rarely go through my books.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway :)
I try to at least once a year.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win!
I have a really hard time getting rid of books. I feel like they are part of my family.
ReplyDeleteHardly ever! I sometimes pass along books to friends, but it is really hard for me to part with books, even text books!
ReplyDeleteWhen I moved last Spring I had to get ride of about 90% of my books! It was a sad day. But at least I have a few good ones with me. :)
ReplyDeleteAt least once a year. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI tend to hoard my books, so I rarely go through them to get rid of any. Maybe once a year if I'm lucky. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeletea couple of times a year. Thanks for the giveaway!!!!
ReplyDeleteprobably once a year
ReplyDeleteMaybe like once or twice a year. :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe once every 5 years. Lol.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing yours. :)
It usually takes a move for me to go through my books.
ReplyDeleteNot as often as i should i just recently got rid of a whole box though.
ReplyDeleteNever! I'm an avid e-reader so my bookshelf is unlimited besides I hoard so wouldn't get rid of anything anyway.
ReplyDeleteIt's rare when I get rid of my books, but when I do it's because I have multiple copies :)
ReplyDeleteI don't purge very often but recently I did go through and donated two boxes to my local library for their books sale.
ReplyDeleteNever because I love all my books!
ReplyDeleteNot very often actually, about once a year I think maybe less.
ReplyDelete
