“Forget what you thought you knew about this story, because everything is about to change.
With Alyssa near death, Luke, Jacob and their companions make a desperate attempt to reach Boston with the final ingredient needed for the plague antidote. They must travel through the Canadian wilderness, some of the roughest country in North America. Along the way they are joined by new friends and old as they fight to reach their destination and save Alyssa. What they don’t know is that something is hunting them.
Something evil is lurking, waiting to strike when they least expect it.
After years of fighting courageously against the living plague, they’d thought they knew their enemy. They’d believed their wits, bravery and strength would be enough to win this fight against the threat that had overrun so much of the world they once knew. But they were wrong.
Now Luke, Risa, Jacob, DeAndre and Jonathan face their most dangerous trials yet as they battle the ever-present zombie threat, along with a new challenge they never saw coming. How many ways can this plague try to kill them?

Mad World Desperation is the third installment of the Mad World Series. We left off in book two, Mad World Sanctuary, where Alyssa had been bitten and infected with the zombie virus. Prior to her being bitten they were going to be on a mission to bring their son, Luke, a half breed (half human half zombie) to Boston, to work with a doctor on a cure for the zombie virus that has claimed the world. But now that Alyssa has been infected, time is crucial, since now they only have about 2 weeks before Alyssa succumbs to the zombie virus, and turns.

This story is told from Luke's POV. I was surprised to be honest, bu I'm not sure why. The first two books were from Alyssa's POV but it makes sense with her being put into a medical induced coma and everything. I really enjoyed seeing this world through Luke's eyes though. It gave you a different perspective on everyone and everything.

This books is a fun and bumpy ride, just like the other two books. They get more in depth with the zombies in this book, which is awesome, but part of the zombie 'intelligence' throws me off a bit and kind of makes the story lose a bit of its edge. But with that said, towards the end of this book, that edginess comes roaring back up and leaves you with a nail biting battle at the end. I am very excited to see what happens in the next one, I will not tell you what happens to Alyssa, you must read it to find out!! :)
