I killed my first victim at thirteen years old – my age, not his. He was going to rape me, him and a couple of his friends. And so, I killed him. And then… I killed again. And again.
At seventeen, I’m killing four to six times a year – maybe more. Don’t stress out. I only go after the pedophiles and rapists. There are more out there than I could cover in a lifetime.
Saying I did this on my own would be selfish. Enforcing justice holds a glory all its own. But now, my lifelong friend and backup, Deegan, has been arrested. I have to decide if I want to give myself up and take his place or leave him with all the damning evidence. I don’t want to stop killing. But if I let him take the fall, I can’t kill anymore. And I need to keep doing that.
But the worst part of it all?
I love him.
Okay with a blurb starting out like this one, talking about killing her first victim at thirteen, how could you not want to pick up this book and see what it is all about and read about this girls story? I know I did!! I love the idea of this book, kind of a Dexter theme to it, though the main character, Cassie, isn't working with police to find these men and kill them. She's doing it on her own, well almost. She has Deegan right by her side.
When you first start this book, you start off right away with the first kill, Rape or potential rape scenes are either done right or it just seem like a big ole mess. This one was done right. I experienced every feeling that Cassie felt. I was scared about what was going to happen but I couldn't turn away because I wanted to find out what happened. It was pretty gruesome, but not holy crap, guts and blood everywhere going to barf gruesome, but pretty life changing for Cassie.
Throughout the story, Cassie marks her killing every year, along with her with crush and uber hottie Deegan, buy another killing. Although their relationship is anything but perfect. Every year they kill, get tattoos to remember the killings and then don't talk until the next year. Not by Cassie's choice tho. Lots of drama between these two, but understandable drama, Deegan is a typical boy trying to do the right thing, thinking the wrong thing type of stuff.
The ending is a BIG ending, but I loved it. Everything Cassie does and ever predator she kills becomes more and more of a danger, but she is hell bent on ridding the world of these sick men and nothing and no one is gonna stop her!! This book is obviously for mature audiences, but it is such a good read, i encourage everyone to BUY THIS BOOK! Awesome!
