(Pushing the Limits, #3)
Release Date: November 26, 2013
Publisher: HarlequinTEEN; 474 pages
From acclaimed author Katie McGarry comes an explosive new tale of a good girl with a reckless streak, a street-smart guy with nothing to lose, and a romance forged in the fast lane
The girl with straight As, designer clothes and the perfect life-that's who people expect Rachel Young to be. So the private-school junior keeps secrets from her wealthy parents and overbearing brothers...and she's just added two more to the list. One involves racing strangers down dark country roads in her Mustang GT. The other? Seventeen-year-old Isaiah Walker-a guy she has no business even talking to. But when the foster kid with the tattoos and intense gray eyes comes to her rescue, she can't get him out of her mind.
Isaiah has secrets, too. About where he lives, and how he really feels about Rachel. The last thing he needs is to get tangled up with a rich girl who wants to slum it on the south side for kicks-no matter how angelic she might look.
But when their shared love of street racing puts both their lives in jeopardy, they have six weeks to come up with a way out. Six weeks to discover just how far they'll go to save each other.
If you have NOT read Pushing the Limits and Dare You To, please read with caution. There are some spoilers that were unavoidable. Proceed with caution . . .
Katie McGarry, I love you. I really, really do. Have you ever read a book where you find yourself copying what they're doing in the book? Like when they smirk, you smirk; when they nod their heads you do as well? Yeah, this was totally happening to me while reading Crash Into You...while I was on a bus to New York. Needless to say, I'm glad it wasn't a full bus because that could've been embarrassing. This is one of those series that keep getting better with each book and it makes me want them to never ever ever ever end. She is a fantastic story teller with some of the best, most addicting characters, ever. I'm in love with them all but I agree with her, Isaiah's story is probably my favorite.
Who knew he would find love again after Beth shattered his heart but have no fear, it happens and it's even better than I could've imagined. You know that saying opposites attract? Yeah, on the outside, this saying totally fits Isaiah and Rachel. He's covered in tattoos, has piercings and dresses like 'thug' while Rachel is from a rich area, whose dressed in nice clothes, expensive jewelry and didn't have to buy her car. But as for them, on the inside, they are more alike than you would've ever thought. He, who is very experienced with the opposite sex (not relationships though) and she, who has yet to be kissed by a boy. What a strange pairing, right? But oh my gosh, they are meant to be together and it will have you fanning yourself while reading. I am not even kidding you.
Rachel gets in trouble, lots of trouble actually, but while she could've let Isaiah get himself arrested, she saved him. She didn't have to especially for a guy she didn't even know, one who looked like trouble but she couldn't help herself. That was the start of something special. The first evening these two shared together was full of just perfect moments where you're so enthralled in the other person you don't even realize you've moved closer to the person. You don't realize you started out on the opposite side of the table but now there are only inches between you. Oh yes, this is when you know you have something special.
Can we talk about Rachel's brothers for a second here? Cause seriously, this girl comes from a really messed up family. It may not look like it, by looking at them but they truly are. She had an older sister who died from leukemia and at the time had two other children, Gavin and Jack. Their mother wanted a 'replacement' daughter for Colleen so they tried having kids again - that's when they had West (the bad boy of the family) and less than a year later they had twins, Ethan and Rachel. I want these brothers as my brothers. Especially Ethan. It must be the twin thing but he always has her back, always wants what's best for but is also willing to cover for her when she just wants to go out a ride. The one thing I'd hate is the over-protectiveness having four older brothers brings. Not to mention the fact that you have to please your mother and be like Colleen because she's weak and never got over her loss. But they love her and they'd do anything for her. The one conversation that always comes to mind is when she complains that she'll never be kissed. When you get to this scene, you'll no doubt have a smile on your face while also rolling your eyes. Boys will be boys.
How have I forgotten the relationship between Noah and Isaiah? Actually, the friendship between Noah, Isaiah and Beth is what I really loved but ever since Dare You To, Isaiah and Beth's friendship is basically nonexistent. But there's still Noah and the fact that these two live together (even in the rotten conditions they are in) makes my day. Noah promised he'd never leave Isiah behind and dammit, Noah is a man of his word. These two are honest with each other, know each other like the back of their hands but they are always there for the other. It doesn't matter that they are not blood related, these two are brothers for life. They are family. I don't think I've loved a bromance more than I love theirs (or okay, there are a couple that are up there with them).
I can't even put in to the right words how much I loved this book; how quickly I devoured this book. I loved it so much that I really wanted to start reading it again. While you can read this on it's own, if you want, it's recommended you read Pushing the Limits and Dare You To beforehand. Not only does it make this story better but you'd be missing out by not reading those books.
Thank you so much to Harlequin TEEN for a review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
