Time After Time by Tamara Ireland Stone Review + Giveaway

Time After Time by Tamara Ireland Stone
(Time Between Us, #2)
Release Date: October 8, 2013
Publisher: Disney-Hyperion; 368 pages
Calling Anna and Bennett’s romance long distance is an understatement: she’s from 1995 Chicago and he’s a time traveler from 2012 San Francisco. The two of them never should have met, but they did. They fell in love, even though they knew they shouldn't. And they found a way to stay together, against all odds.

It’s not a perfect arrangement, though, with Bennett unable to stay in the past for more than brief visits, skipping out on big chunks of his present in order to be with Anna in hers. They each are confident that they’ll find a way to make things work...until Bennett witnesses a single event he never should have seen (and certainly never expected to). Will the decisions he makes from that point on cement a future he doesn't want?

Told from Bennett’s point of view, Time After Time will satisfy readers looking for a fresh, exciting, and beautifully-written love story, both those who are eager to find out what’s next for Time Between Us's Anna and Bennett and those discovering their story for the first time.
First, we're gonna talk covers. These covers are just so beautiful, so appealing and are absolutely perfect. Always having Bennett in the background and blurry is just absolutely perfect. Kudos to the cover designer because I couldn't see these covers any other way. Even though Time After Time is Bennett's story, his heart is still and always is with Anna in 1995. Perfect.

When I found out that Time Between Us wasn't a standalone, I may have jumped for joy (And when I say that, I mean quite literally). I seriously fell in love with that book and couldn't wait for more of Bennett and Anna's bizarre story. Bizarre in the sense of how does a relationship work when you're literally living 17 years apart? B.i.z.a.r.r.e.

Time travel has always been something that's fascinated me; I mean how many times have you wished you could go back and change the outcome to something? Or what about wishing you could visit any place you wanted without spending all your money on traveling fees? Wouldn't the world just be a much easier place than it is now? I think so and it's always fun to just sit there and think what you would've done differently, where'd you go and how that might effect who you are at this very moment. Books that make you think, not necessarily about the story you're reading but if it were to actually happen, to you. I love books like that and that's exactly what both of these books are.

I have to admit, and though I don't want to, but I didn't like this book as much as the first book. Maybe it's because I didn't know what to expect with the first book, I picked that up on a whim and ended up loving or maybe because of how much I loved Time Between Us, I had such high expectations for Time After Time? I'm not sure but it just didn't wow me like the first book did. *highlight to view spoiler* Also, I'm confused. This is one of those books that doesn't tie everything up in a nice, pretty little bow because I'm left with a lot more questions than I wanted. Like how the heck does a relationship like this actually work, long term? What happens if they want to get married and start a family but when he goes back to current day, he'll always be a single man (in the eyes of his friends and family) but then he'll flash back to being a husband/father? And how the heck can you explain having a kid before you were technically born? How can you miss out on that much of a child growing up? I'm clearly thinking too much in to this story but I seriously consider these questions. Just how does this relationship work, long term? I don't know and I wish there was a simple answer. *end spoiler*

I like meeting Bennett's friends and meeting his family; one of the best things about having this book told from his point of view instead of Anna's again (not that I would've minded, regardless). He's talked about these people but we've never actually gotten a really good glimpse in to that side of him. Seeing how Anna and Bennett's relationship has grown and is on a level that only they would ever understand; I think all her friends and family, at one point, wish he would just disappear and leave her alone because he always makes plans with her but stands her up, even when it's out of his control. It's hard making commitments when you don't have full control over your time traveling and even more difficult when everyone else can't know. You can't really explain why someone stood you up and then never called.

This book faces a lot more complications, not just in their relationship but with Bennett's family and his health. It's adds more drama on top of what we saw in the previous book along with a lot more romance (we have to even the score somehow, right?). If you read and enjoyed Time Between Us then I don't think this is one you want to miss.

A huge thank you to Disney-Hyperion for allowing me the chance to read and review Time After Time in exchange for an honest review.

To make room for my hardcover editions that I've ordered of both Time Between Us and Time After Time, I'm giving away my ARC copy of Time Between Us to one lucky winner! 2. If I could go back in time. I would do the major thing and go back and get my Dad to the hospital. He died unexpectedly last November. But for a smaller life decision. I would go back and make sure I went to high school. I screwed that up. I would want to go to college and make something of myself. Thank you for the giveaway.

  4. I think I'd go back to the last time I ever saw my godfather. Not so that I could fix anything but to remember what he was like. To remember his face and his smile and his laugh and his voice. Because I'll probably never see him again, and he wouldn't care anyway, but I want to remember.

  5. I wouldn't want to go back. There are too many things I want to do in my future, and I don't want to spend time trying to fix the past.
