Most of you are lucky. Once came out in July so that means you only had to wait about nine months to get Rise; to read how this whole trilogy ends. Especially with the way Once ended. I, on the other hand, had to wait thirteen, long, painful months. That is one of my two negative things to say…and obviously this has nothing to do with the book. Just me whining about how impatient I am; however; the wait is worth it, I think and I will tell you why.

We’ve watched Eve grow from that naïve give she was in the first book to a stronger, more confident young lady in Once. (Yes, by using the phrase ‘young lady’ makes me sound super old…I get that.) If you thought her growing up ended there, you are absolutely wrong. If you look at the first few chapters of Eve and the last few chapters of Rise you will probably be scratching your head going how is this the same person? I can assure you that it is and it’s beautiful to see. The fact that Anna Carey can take a character and transform her but not change who she is, at her core, is incredible.

I know we all ship Caleb and that’s cool because I totally do but let me just say this. I have much respect for Charlie. Not that I like the idea of he and Eve together but man, he is a good man. I can envision a great future for him…I can see it now…he deserves all the happiness and you know what? I do believe he’ll get it!

What was so exciting in this book is we got to journey back to places we’ve been before. Obviously, different circumstances but returning was amazing. Sometimes it was bittersweet and other times it was incredibly painful. One thing this book did not lack was death. People were being killed left and right…it was hard seeing some of these characters go.

I feel like this was a great conclusion to, what I think was a fantastic series. Absolutely one of my favorites so it definitely makes me a bit depressed to know that this was it. As Epic Reads has been saying, The End Is Here. I do not like the ends...I like infinity...where things just keep going and going and going and...you get my point. Regardless, I can't always get what I want, right? That...is my other negative thing to say regarding Rise. The ending...I wish it would've gone on for another chapter or two. Not that it was a bad ending but it was just...it left more to be desired. I can't really say much more than that without giving away the whole book, which would be utterly unfair. But that was my only disappointment with the book. So you see, that's not a bad thing at all.

Read this series. Wait to April if you must so you can read them back to back without having to wait. I'll envy you, though I think waiting is half the fun. Dystopia fans will thoroughly enjoy this and I think you'll be satisfied when you close the final book the final time.
