College junior Alex Abrams scores her dream job at the ripe age of twenty – manager to a successful salon and spa. Thrilled to finally have a real adult job, Alex enthusiastically jumps into the world of schedules, conference calls, and getting a massage when interviewing prospective employees. What she doesn’t expect are the very grown-up issues that comes with a demanding boss. Kevin Dohlman quickly becomes Alex’s worse nightmare – covering up his affairs, dealing with his enormous ego, and trying to protect her female staff from him becomes a full-time job in its own right. Alex has also befriended Kevin’s wife and co-owner, Dani, and is trying to keep Kevin’s secrets hidden from her. The situation only worsens when Kevin starts paying Alex off to make sure she keeps her insider knowledge to herself.
While struggling to keep her wits and stay happy with her new grown-up job, Alex is juggling college courses, a new love interest, and keeping up with her close group of girlfriends. When her roommate and best friend Lila gets offered an opportunity to move to Los Angeles and sign with an agent, Alex realizes her life truly is changing, and everyone around her – including herself ¬¬–– is growing up. Knowing she is faced with some hard decisions ahead, Alex struggles with keeping her job at Blissful. But does she really want to throw away what she dreamed of as a career – or will the secret-keeping for Kevin become too much to handle? The Green Ticket is a story about morals versus money, and how one young woman navigates the shaky line between the two.
Guest Post: Book Tours. Do you feel as an author they are beneficial and help gain an audience or no?
I started CLP Blog Tours in January 2011 for a few different reasons. One, there wasn’t a lot of tour companies out there yet, and very few focused on the chick lit/romance/women fiction genres –which are my favorite. Another reason was because I was getting tired of some of the pitch emails I was receiving as a book blogger. I was being pitched for books I don’t read, I was being pitched for eBook only books before I had a Kindle and specially stated that in my site, I was being asked to review a book within 4 days, and I was being asked to promote a book and a certain specify of reality stars without given anything in exchange – such as the book I was supposed to be promoting. I was starting to get frustrated with the anonymous pitch emails, and I imagined other bloggers could feel the same way. And the final reason I got the idea was because I love connecting authors with readers – a big part of my blog, ChickLitPlus.com. So ... why not give it a try?
It’s been almost two years since I started, and I am happy as a clam with what I am doing. Some do wonder if blog tours are worth it, and in my experience I have to say yes. Going through a tour company basically means taking all that work of finding a blog that is a good fit, if the reviewer reads your genre, has an eReader if necessary, doing all the contact and follow-up work, and putting that into someone else’s (capable) hands. No matter if you do a blog tour or not, most authors – specifically indie or self-pubbed- search for book blogs to host them, promote them, and more importantly – review their books. I have gone on tours with both my titles, but I still do plenty of self-promotions and trolling in the virtual world to find more blogs to have me. Often times going through a tour company not only frees up your time, but you get introduced to bloggers that you possibly wouldn’t have found on your own. And even though I run a blog tour business, I always encourage authors to use several companies for their marketing plans. Two I love working with myself and would recommend are A Tale of Many Reviews and Novel Publicity. And a good thing to about finding these bloggers and forming a relationship with them is that they often times want to host you again in the future – so keep list of who has reviewed for you and contact them for your next book!

Who would ever think that your dream job could turn into a nightmare? And who ever thought getting lots of money would be such a huge burden to carry. That is exactly what Alex Abrams has to deal with in The Green Ticket. Having previously read Samantha's debut novel, Destined To Fail, I was very excited to dive right into her next book, and she did not disappoint with this novel.
This book is different from Destined To Fail, but not in a bad way. She real captured the way that a lot of college students act and speak. It made all the girls in this story very relate-able and you felt like you were right there in the story with them. Alex is a very busy college student, who has a great head on her shoulders, when she decides to take a chance at a dream job, to her surprise she gets it. But she't not expecting what she ends up getting by working at Blissful Salon. I really REALLY hated Kevin from the start. Just from reading about him, you thoughts instantly, scumbag. Samantha did a good job with him, he was written perfectly. Allie surprised me, but I do not want to say too much about her because I do not want to give anything away. One thing I will say, is I want a friends like Carmen! She is loud and proud of her heritage and seems like a blast!!!
I was hoping with the love interest in this book, that Kevin wouldn't become a problem between the two of them. Nothing worse then some scumbag coming between something really good. I will not tell you what happens, you must read the book. But, the instant attraction Alex had to Henry, I myself even got goosebumps!!
Samantha March has done it again, I feel very a very successful second novel, and I am very excited to read much much more from her!! Amazing book!!
