I feel like I really should've read Cold Kiss again before reading Glass Heart. For some reason, I really don't remember exactly how it ended so I was a little thrown off with how it began. That being said, I did enjoy this book. I didn't love it but it was an enjoyable read. It took some time for me to really get into it but I've always like Gabriel since he was first introduced. That hasn't changed.
Wren isn't bringing back anyone from the dead anymore, so we consider this progress! But she is messing with her powers and it scares Gabriel, not for his own safety but for hers. He really cares for her and just wants to protect her, because that's what good guys do! However, it can seem overbearing and I can understand how one would react and push people away. Their relationship is pretty strained through out most of this book, mainly because of Wren and her thick head. So many times I wanted to just reach my hand in the book and smack her upside the head. Use your brain, girl!
She meets two people who are like her and have powers but they give off a weird vibe. Most of the time if someone gives off a weird vibe that's a sure sign to turn around, walk the other direction and never look back. But does Wren do this? Absolutely not. Bay and Fiona are no good but she starts to hang out with them, show them what she can do; all the while keeping Gabriel in the dark.
She's also having issues with her younger sister, Robin, who is just coming in to her powers but also wanting to meet their dad, whom Robin doesn't even remember. Wren's not ready and I have to agree with Robin, Wren is awfully selfish. A lot of what she does is all about me me me, which also makes me wanna smack her again. The world does not revolve around you, sweetheart!
Her friendship with Jess and Darcia is just great. I really thought one thing regarding their love interests when I was completely wrong (and I was super thankful I was wrong). So I guess, Wren is a rather frustrating character but with the mixture of all the other characters involved, she's certainly tolerable.
If you enjoyed Cold Kiss, I would certainly check out Glass Heart. Technically, I really don't think you need to read the first book to read this book but I would highly recommend it. Danny, her ex-boyfriend who died and she brought back as a zombie in Cold Kiss is mentioned a lot throughout this book. Oh, and did I mention how much I just adore both of these covers? They're so beautiful (and shiny, at least the final copies are)
