Zara White suspects there's a freaky guy semi-stalking her. She's also obsessed with phobias. And it's true, she hasn't exactly been herself since her stepfather died. But exiling her to shivery Maine to live with her grandmother? That seems a bit extreme. The move is supposed to help her stay sane...but Zara's pretty sure her mom just can't deal with her right now.

She couldn't be more wrong. Turns out the semi-stalker is not a figment of Zara's overactive imagination. In fact, he's still following her, leaving behind an eerie trail of gold dust. There's something not right - not human - in this sleepy Maine town, and all signs point to Zara.

Tragedy strikes right from the beginning. We start off finding out Zara's father (though not biological) had just died from a heart attack. And she witnessed it. I can't even imagine the heartache she must be going through. You see a lot of it but to actually witness the only father you ever knew, one you loved with all your heart, die right in front of you? I can't even begin to truly imagine.

Zara's mother sends her away to Maine, where she grew up, because she was so depressed she thought sending her to her grandmother Betty's place would liven her up. She meets two attractive, tall, friendly boys her first day at school. Ian, who is an over-achiever and Nick, who is a wanna-be bad boy. Of course, I find myself attracted to Ian because I find that I don't usually lean toward the 'bad boy' ones. Though, calling Nick a bad boy is a laugh. He's got a hero complex so...but I really do like them both.

We find out that not only to were's exist (like werewolves, were-eagles, were-tigers, were-bears) but so do pixies. And pixies have this need, if their king doesn't have a queen, they need the blood of a young boy. It's not something they can control so when a boy goes missing, things start to get real interesting for Zara and her friends.

I don't know why in most books I always find myself leaning towards the main characters best friend(s) the most, but I am. I absolutely adore Issie and Devyn! I actually think this is the first time reading a book where I didn't hate any character, not even Meghan. Sure, she's a bit of a bitch but we've all seen those in high school so it wasn't anything out of the ordinary...

This is the first review I've ever written where I've read the books after it so it's really hard to me to put it in to words without giving away what comes in CAPTIVATE or even ENTICE. But I just know I enjoyed this book but they keep getting getting better! If you like fantasy, especially weres and pixies (a type of fairy, really) then you NEED to pick up this series. ENDURE comes out in May and I know I'm dying to read it!!!
