Grace and Sam share a kinship so close they could be lovers or siblings. But they also share a problem. When the temperature slips towards freezing, Sam reverts to his wolf identity and must retreat into the woods to protect his pack. He worries that eventually his human side will fade away and he will be left howling alone at the lonely moon. A stirring supernatural teen romance.
I had seen Shiver in the book store a lot and I honestly really had no idea what it was about. I decided one day that I wanted to find out what it was all about and I bought it and read it. I was instantly hooked. Even though I had a pre-existing idea of what werewolves were like, from Twilight of course, and that idea didn't really fit when I started reading this book. The werewolves compared to the Twilight versions are night and day and completely different, and of course made it much more interesting and I couldn't put it down.
I always seem to get more into books that take place in my part of town. Well, at least in my state, in this instance. Mercy Falls, Minnesota is where this story takes place. It just makes it seem more personal to me when I read stories that take place here. And this story is a heart wrenching, beautiful love story and you definitely feel it when reading this book.
The character Sam is amazing. His eyes, his Golden eyes, his struggle everything about him I love. When he meets Grace, it is very special. Their relationship is so real and I love the intimate scenes, they are so real and so personal, you feel like you are there. Sam is a guy we all wish we could meet.
I absolutely loved the ending of this book. I was worried how it might turn out with everything that transpires in this book, but at the very end, it leaves you with goosebumps. I cried at the end. I knew it was only the first book in this series, but I LOVED how this one ended. It was such a perfect ending, if it would have ending at this book alone, I would have been completely satisfied. Amazing!!!!
