Stolen Away by Alyxandra Harvey
Release Date: January 17, 2012
Publisher: Bloomsbury/Walker Childrens; 288 pages
I am a huge fan of Alyxandra Harvey and I had actually won a copy of this book in a charity auction, I was super excited. I wish I could've dove in to this earlier but I had other books already lined up, but it was worth the wait. She never disappoints. I'm a huge fan of Drake Chronicles and absolutely smitten with Haunting Violet. So when she mentioned a new book about Fae, how could I not get excited?!
STOLEN AWAY is told from Eloise Hart and her best friend's Jo Blackwell's points of views. Eloise has a very faint trace of Fairy blood in her and it turns out, her erratic Aunt Antonia has more connections to the Fairy world than her twin sister, Jaz (Eloise's mother) or El knows. She spends half the year MIA and her family could never get in touch with her. Jo is a big flirt and wants nothing more to be out hot guy hunting and it turns out, she finds herself a rock star kind of guy. He's mysterious, beyond good looking and he's interested in her but he never gives her his name. Odd, right? Then there's Eloise, who seems much more reserved than her best friend and has an amazingly attractive boy kneel at her feet at an ice cream parlor. What could be more embarrassing than that? Except this boy has come to protect her but she doesn't understand against what.
First off, I'm a sucker for romance in any novel. (Aren't most girls?) And it's certainly not lacking (except maybe for Jo and Eloise's best friend, Devin, poor guy) where Jo and this mysterious, rock star have hot chemistry and Eloise and this boy, Lucas, have a budding relationship, if you will. It's two different relationships...but make for you wanting to keep turning the page. So, STOLEN AWAY is not lacking in the romance department, as Alyxandra Harvey usually doesn't disappoint. Second, there's enough action in it to keep you wandering if everyone is going to come out of it alive. Third, it's just an amazing story that is well written and evenly paced.
I've heard this is a standalone, just as Haunting Violet is...but just like Haunting Violet, I think this could be made in to one amazing series. So my fingers are crossed that what I've been told is wrong. (A girl can always dream, right?) If you've read any of Alyxandra Harvey's work, like the Drake Chronicles, you'll want to pick up a copy of STOLEN AWAY. Or if you're a fan of Fae (like maybe a fan of Julie Kagawa's Iron Fey series?) you'll definitely want to check this out.
Also, on a side note, I have the UK version of STOLEN AWAY (because that's the version she sent me) and the cover is so absolutely beautiful! I like the US edition of it but man, the UK cover is just so pretty! Check out goodreads for the covers to the other editions to see what I mean! So pretty! :)

For seventeen years, Eloise Hart had no idea the world of Faery even existed. Now she has been abducted and trapped in the Rath of Lord Strahan, King of Faery. Strahan was only meant to rule for seven years, as Faery tradition dictates, and then give up his crown to another. But he won't comply, and now chaos threatens both worlds.
The only one who can break his stranglehold on the Faery court is his wife. . . Eloise's aunt Antonia. Using Eloise to lure Antonia, Strahan captures his wife, desperate to end the only threat to his reign. Now Eloise must become the rescuer. Together with her best friends Jo and Devin, she must forge alliances with other Fae, including a gorgeous protector named Lucas, and Strahan's mysterious son, Eldric—who may or may not betray them.
