When her boyfriend, Danny, is killed in a car accident, Wren can’t imagine living without him. Wild with grief, she uses the untamed powers she’s inherited to bring him back. But the Danny who returns is just a shell of the boy she once loved.
Wren has spent four months keeping Danny hidden, while her life slowly unravels around her. Then Gabriel DeMarnes transfers to her school and somehow, inexplicably, he can sense her secret. Wren finds herself drawn to Gabriel, who is so much more alive than the ghost of the boy she loved. But Wren can’t turn her back on Danny or the choice she made for him—and she realizes she must find a way to make things right, even if it means breaking her own heart.
I'll be honest, I've never really read a Zombie book and though, this isn't your typical zombie book. You don't have dead people walking around, moaning and trying to eat your brains. No, not in Cold Kiss, which is good because I'm not sure I'd like that so much. In Cold Kiss you have 17 year old Wren who lost her boyfriend, Danny, whom she loved more than anything to a horrible car crash. Anyone whose lost someone they love knows how hard it is to cope with the loss. How long it takes one to move on, even though you never truly forget and never ever stop missing them. Wren isn't your normal teenager, she has powers and she used these powers to bring back Danny because she was too selfish to let him go. She didn't want to be alone. But it didn't take long for her to realize that Danny wasn't the same as he was when he was alive and over time, it became harder and harder for her to control him. It's hard losing someone you love once, but how hard do you think it would be when you know you have to lose them a second time?
The story was very intriguing and it sucked me in from just the description. The emotions that flow out of this book, you actually feel like you're Wren at times, and you're actually the one dealing with the loss and heartbreak. It's always amazing when a story captures you so much that you actually feel like you're apart of it.
I recommend this book to fans of the YA fantasy genre. It's an intriguing story and, like I said, its not your typical zombie story, where they try to eat your brains ;)
I'm really interested in this one! I requested it from NetGalley, but I haven't had a chance to read it. I've been so behind! It's coming up soon though. I was never sure about zombie books either but then I read HOLLOWLAND by Amanda Hocking and loved it and then read the adult zombie trilogy by Jesse Petersen. They've made me a zombie believer lol! I don't like gruesome, but all of those worked for me.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I'll have to check those out! Yeah, Zombies are fun for watching movies...sometimes, but I dunno about books. But I enjoyed this. This one I actually one through a Goodreads giveaway! First giveaway I entered...it was very exciting! It's definitely a good read. :)
