I've seen him on the news. Followed the stories about what happened in Ohio. John Smith, out there, on the run. To the world, he's a mystery. But to me . . . he's one of us.
Nine of us came here, but sometimes I wonder if time has changed us—if we all still believe in our mission. How can I know? There are six of us left. We're hiding, blending in, avoiding contact with one another . . . but our Legacies are developing, and soon we'll be equipped to fight. Is John Number Four, and is his appearance the sign I've been waiting for? And what about Number Five and Six? Could one of them be the raven-haired girl with the stormy eyes from my dreams? The girl with powers that are beyond anything I could ever imagine? The girl who may be strong enough to bring the six of us together?
They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
And Number Three in Kenya.
They tried to catch Number Four in Ohio—and failed.I am Number Seven. One of six still alive.
And I'm ready to fight.
This series drew me in with I Am Number Four, the book was absolutely amazing. (Trust me, it was much better than the movie) So needless to say, I was eagerly anticipating the follow up, The Power of Six. Let me tell you, this book did NOT disappoint. We get to see more of John "Four" Smith, Six and Sam but we're also introduced to Marina, who is Seven. Reading about another one of the nine sent from Lorien is very exciting. She is located in Spain with her Cepan, Adelina. Marina is determined to find John, she's not sure what his number is but she's certain he's one of them. Adelina won't hear it, she doesn't want to leave Spain. They've been safe there so why risk it? The Mogs find them and things get interesting from there on out...
The story flowed so well, the back and forth from Four/Six to Seven flowed well, and gave you different perspectives of the story. Mixed it up a bit and made the story better for it. This book was filled with way more action than I Am Number Four, a bit more drama and more interactions with John and Sam, who are a friendship I admire.
The end with Sam and John blows my mind. I'm still having trouble coming to terms with everything that went down. But I'm also excited we got to meet Nine at the end, as well. I know we'll be seeing more of him in the next installment.
*highlight to view spoiler* I totally didn't see the shock coming toward the end. That second ship that left after the nine, it held a 10th child, a baby only days old. I had NO idea there was going to be a 10th one! Turns out its Ella, the girl who Marina while living in the group home. This makes me super excited to see what's to come! *spoiler*
I recommend this book to people who like a book that is action filled along with sci-fi. If you're looking for a romance filled YA book, this is definitely not your book. Not that there's NOT romance in it but not as much as you usually see in YA. Do not base this book series off the motion picture, I Am Number Four. It is MUCH better than what you say, promise! :)
