Illuminae by @AmieKaufman & @misterkristoff {Audiobook Review}

Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
(The Illuminae Files, #1)
Release Date: October 20, 2015
Publisher: Knopf Books for Young Readers; 11 hours 41 minutes
Rating:

This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do.

This afternoon, her planet was invaded.

The year is 2575, and two rival megacorporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than an ice-covered speck at the edge of the universe. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to fight their way onto an evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit.

But their problems are just getting started. A deadly plague has broken out and is mutating, with terrifying results; the fleet's AI, which should be protecting them, may actually be their enemy; and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady hacks into a tangled web of data to find the truth, it's clear only one person can help her bring it all to light: the ex-boyfriend she swore she'd never speak to again.

Told through a fascinating dossier of hacked documents—including emails, schematics, military files, IMs, medical reports, interviews, and more—Illuminae is the first book in a heart-stopping, high-octane trilogy about lives interrupted, the price of truth, and the courage of everyday heroes.

Top 10 of 2015 {Day 5} Most Anticipated 2016 Releases + Giveaway

The Top 10 of the year is back & I couldn't be more excited. It’s hosted by Rachel fromFiktshun, Jamie from Two Chicks on Books, Mindy from Magical Urban Fantasy Reads, and Nancy from Tales of the Ravenous Reader.

2016 is going to be a better year for me. I'm determined to pick up more books and these are 10 that I'll definitely be reading. And picking 10 is probably the hardest thing I've ever done. I decided to make a list of books by authors I've read previously. That way it was easier . . . whether they're sequels or just a new book by an author.

Top 10 of 2015 {Day 3} Best Couples

The Top 10 of the year is back & I couldn't be more excited. It’s hosted by Rachel from Fiktshun, Jamie from Two Chicks on Books, Mindy from Magical Urban Fantasy Reads, and Nancy from Tales of the Ravenous Reader.

I really wanted to do best characters of 2015 but it wasn't on the list so I'm goig to go with couples (which I think I did last year but let's face it, there are too many amazing couples). You may see the same book on this list more than once but it's because it was filled with many fantastic couples (I'm looking at you, Winter and Six of Crows . . .)

Top 10 of 2015 {Day 2} Best Book Covers

The Top 10 of the year is back & I couldn't be more excited. It’s hosted by Rachel from Fiktshun, Jamie from Two Chicks on Books, Mindy from Magical Urban Fantasy Reads, and Nancy from Tales of the Ravenous Reader.

I will admit - it was hard choosing 10 for today. When you only have 42 to choose from and it has to have been released in 2015. The struggle is real.

I am including a book that I'm currently 60% of the way through because I will have it done before 2016.
